Sports World Expresses Shock,
Andrew Wiggins Won't Play In Rio Qualifying To Focus On Wolves
ANDREW WIGGINS
Andrew Wiggins will not play for Canada in the Olympic qualifying tournament this July, instead preferring to spend his summer gearing up for his third season with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Wiggins, 21, said on Friday that he spent a lot of time think- ing about the decision, but it was one he felt he had to make to ensure he was ready to try and help push the Wolves into the playoffs for the first time in 12 years.
"As my third NBA season ap- proaches, I understand my in- creased role with the Timberwolves and dedication to the upcoming season must have my total focus," Wiggins said in a statement issued by his agency, BDA Sports. "We are building a championship con- tending team, which has always been my goal. This was defi- nitely not an easy decision and I fully support and wish Team Canada nothing but success this summer."
Kevin Durant Gets Political Offer From Oklahoma Governor
KEVIN DURANT
Oklahoma's efforts to keep Kevin Durant with the Thun- der is going all the way to the top job in the state.
In answering a question dur- ing the Oklahoma Press Associ- ation's annual convention Saturday, Gov. Mary Fallin said she would be willing to give Durant a government post if the seven-time All-Star stays with Oklahoma City.
"If Kevin Durant thinks about leaving, which I hope he doesn't -- Oklahoma loves Kevin Durant, and Kevin Durant loves Oklahoma. But if he'll stay, I'll make him a Cabi- net person for health and fit- ness on my Cabinet," Fallin said, according to the Tulsa World.
Durant will become an un- restricted free agent July 1, which is the first day teams can legally engage with free agents.
He took the Thunder within one game of the NBA Finals be- fore they were eliminated by the Golden State Warriors in the conference finals.

Disbelief At Orlando Mass Shooting
The deadly nightclub ram- page in Florida that killed at least 50 people sent shock waves around the world Sun- day, with many prominent ath- letes among those taking to Twitter and elsewhere to share their feelings about the mas- sacre.
"It's another hit for us as Americans and what we have to deal with in our world today," Cleveland Cavaliers star Le- Bron James said Sunday in offering condolences to the fam- ilies who lost loved ones in the shooting.
"It definitely puts things in perspective on basketball for myself; it's just a small matter of what reality really is," James said. "My prayers to all the lost ones and all the ones that are re-

At least 50 people died early Sunday when a gunman wield- ing an assault-type rifle and a handgun opened fire inside a crowded gay nightclub in Or- lando, Florida.
Michael Sam, the first openly gay player drafted into the NFL, took to Instagram to offer his condolences to the vic- tims' families and express his outrage at the attack.
Tyronn Lue Fined $25,000 For Criticizing Refs After Game 4
Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue has been fined $25,000 for public criticism of officials fol- lowing his team's 108-97 loss Friday night to the Golden State Warriors in Game 4 of the NBA Finals.
Lue was upset LeBron James took just four free throws despite repeated drives to the basket. The officials gen- erally allowed both teams to get away with contact during the game.
"He never gets calls," Lue said Friday. "I mean, he attacks. Outside of Russell West- brook, he's one of the guys that attacks the paint every single play. And he doesn't get a fair whistle all the time because of his strength and because of his power and guys bounce off of him. But those are still fouls, and we weren't able to get them. But we've got to play through officiating."
James has gotten to the foul line just 17 times in the four

games, and he is in danger of averaging the fewest free throws per game in any se- ries of his ca- reer. James is averaging 5.4
free throws per game this post- season, which is a career low. He averaged 6.5 free throws per game in the regular season, his lowest since he averaged 5.8 in 2003-04, his rookie year.
"It's been like that all year, for the most part," James said after the loss. "I'm not quite sure what I can do personally to get to the free throw line, but I've got to continue to be aggres- sive for our team.
"I'm getting hit, but the refs are not seeing it that way on my drives. ... It's tough playing 46 minutes and only going to the line four times, as much as I at- tack the rim. So it's just a tough situation for our team."
Social Media Mockery of 'Chef'

functional, like a chef would wear in a busy kitchen. The company said the shoes are in- spired by how Curry "starts cooking" like a "master chef" when he goes on hot shooting streaks. The shoes retail for $119.99.
The look became a popular punching bag on social media in the 48 hours between Games 3 and 4, with many users mock- ing them as uncool.
Curry, who had an explo- sive 38 points in the Warriors' 108-97 Game 4 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers, saw the criticism of the shoes and said he wished he'd brought a pair to wear to show them off.
"If I had them in the road bag I would have definitely worn them," Curry said, "and showed you how fire they are."
Shoes Doesn't Faze Steph Curry
Golden State Warriors power forward Draymond Green is suspended for Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Monday night after he was assessed a flagrant foul 1 by the league for his ac- tions in Game 4.
The play in question came with less than three minutes left in Golden State's 108-97 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday, when Green and Le- Bron James got tangled. James stepped over Green after the Warriors forward fell to the court, and Green swung his arm and appeared to make contact with James' groin area. James immediately turned around, and the two players went chest-to-chest as play con- tinued.
The NBA called Green's ac- tion a "retaliatory swipe of his hand to the groin" of James.
The flagrant 1 gave Green his fourth flagrant foul point of the playoffs, which carries an automatic suspension.
"The cumulative points sys-

tem is designed to deter flagrant fouls in our game," NBA execu- tive vice president of basketball operations Kiki Vandeweghe said in a statement. "While Draymond Green's actions in Game 4 do not merit a sus- pension as a standalone act, the number of flagrant points he has earned triggers a suspen- sion for Game 5."
Earlier in the postseason, Green was assessed a flagrant 2 and fined $25,000 for kicking Oklahoma City Thunder center Steven Adams between the legs. He received a flagrant 1 for throwing down Houston Rock- ets forward Michael Beasley in the first round.
STEPHEN CURRY Stephen Curry didn't just
shake off a slump in leading the Golden State Warriors to the brink of a second consecutive NBA title. He also defended his signature shoes.
In the wake of Curry's sub- standard performances at the start of the Finals, the newest version of his Under Armour shoe, the Curry 2, was panned by critics after it was released Wednesday.
The all-white shoe is being dubbed the "Chef Curry" and is designed to be comfortable and
