  Church Of God In Christ Prepares Celebratory Service For Bishop Matthew Williams
 Members of the Church of God in Christ, locally and nationally were saddened Friday, November 27, 2020, to hear of the passing of their pastor and leader, Bishop Matthew Williams.
The community learned a few days ago that Bishop Williams had been hospitalized. No other in- formation was shared.
Having been in the ministry since he announced his calling, Bishop Williams became the pas- tor of Brown Memorial Church of God in Christ in 1985.
Having an interest in music (the organ was one of the instruments he played), Bishop Williams studied music at Hillsborough Community College, and maintained his em- ployment at Busch Gardens until he
became a full-time pastor, in 1987, his bio says.
On the national level, he has held numerous positions, among them currently Prelate of the Florida Southwestern Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction, and General Board Member, Church of God in Christ, Inc. (See Funeral Notice for addi- tional information)
On Sunday and Monday, De- cember 6th and 7th, Celebratory Ac- tivities for Bishop Williams will be held.
On Sunday, December 6th, view- ing will be held. Congregational viewing is 12-2 p. m., followed by Jurisdictional Convivium, 2-4 p. m., and the community public view- ing will be 2-4 p. m. All Celebratory Activities will be held at Brown Me-
morial Church of God in Christ, 2313 27th Ave., Tampa 33605.
On Monday, at 11 a. m. Presiding
Bishop Charles E. Blake, Sr.,
will be the officiant for the funeral service.
