After School Program Donates Computer Lab To CDC Of Tampa
Middleton High School Class Of 1958

Last month, IGT announced the location of its newest IGT After School Advantage Com- puter Lab. This donation marks the 35th IGT After School Advantage Computer Lab established in Florida.
IGT is the lottery technol- ogy provider to the Florida Lottery.
The new lab will be located at the CDC of Tampa, Inc. Youth Services Building (Cor- poration to Develop Commu- nities, Inc.), 2631 E. Lake Avenue.
Ernest Coney, Jr., Presi- dent and CEO of the CDC of Tampa, Inc. said, “We are ex- cited to offer this resource to the community. This lab will help break barriers for our youth, in turn creating an op- portunity for them to better themselves and their fu- tures.”
As part of the $15,000 do- nation, the CDC of Tampa, Inc., received 12 Dell wireless laptop computers with head- phones, Microsoft Office 2016, a color laser printer, a wireless router, a flat screen TV with stand, desks, chairs, assorted learning software, storage and charging cabinet, and an assortment of decora- tions for the room. It also re- ceived a one-year subscription to Moby Max. The computer lab will pro- vide youth with essential computer literacy skills to help them succeed in the fu- ture.
The lab makes it possible for students to focus on Com- mon Core subjects while pro- viding the students with the opportunity to utilize com- puters if they don’t have them at home. Students will be able to access the MyOn Reading Program, and will be able to use the lab for ACT, SAT, and FSA test prepara- tion as well as to look up and apply for jobs online and ac-

Grant Writing Workshops Planned For February

In addition, the CDC will
host a Family Literacy Day one Saturday per month. This will give families the oppor- tunity to get information on topics of interest and impor- tance related to their child’s education.
The Center for Non-Profit and Community Develop- ment, Inc., will host three free professional grant-writing workshops. The workshops will be held on three separate dates during the month of February.
The first workshop will take place on Saturday, February 25, 2017, from 1 p.m. until 3:30 p.m., at the West Tampa Public Library, 2312 W. Union Street.
The group will discuss “How To Start A 501c3 Non- profit” and “Free Professional Grant Writing Workshop.”
The second workshop will take place on Monday, Febru- ary 27th, from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. This workshop will be held at the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County, 1002 E. Palm Avenue.
The topic of the session is “How To Prepare A Business Plan” and “Free Professional Grant Writing Workshop.”
