Drake Presents Rihanna With MTV’s Michael Jackson Award And Professes His Love
Was Chris Brown Arrested Because Of His Past
Or Because He Was Accused By A White Woman?
Jayanta Jenkins Earns Twitter’s Highest Creative Role
Chris Brown was accused of pulling a gun on Baylee Curran.
Rihanna was the center of attention Sunday night at MTV’s Video Music Awards, when she was presented with the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award by Drake. But some people really thought Drake was about to get down on one knee and propose to Rihanna when he gushed about her during his speech.
“We love the music which could change styles from album to album. We love the videos which change their
artistic vision from year to year. But most of all, we love the woman who hasn’t changed since day one. She’s someone I’ve been in love with since I was 22 years old. She’s one of my best friends in the world. All my adult life, I’ve looked up to her even though she’s younger than me. She’s a living breathing legend in our industry. Ladies and gentle- men, the recipient of the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award for 2016: Rihanna.’’
Chris Brown was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after what LAPD called an hours-long standoff at his home, Lieu- tenant Chris Ramirez con- firmed in a press conference.
Brown has since been re- leased.
The woman who called the cops on Chris Brown that ul- timately led to his arrest al- leges the singer pulled a gun on her because she was admiring a piece of jewelry ... and after- wards his people demanded she sign a non-disclosure agreement.
Former pageant girl, Baylee Curran says she came to his house with a friend, spent a lit- tle time in the hot tub, and then walked back inside where a member of Chris' crew was
Tragedy struck as T-Pain’s niece was stabbed and killed outside of a Walgreens in Tal- lahassee, Florida Tuesday, (Au- gust 30), WCTV reports.
Javona Glover, 23, was an employee at the drug store where she was killed. She is survived by a 2-year-old daughter.
The Walgreens location where the stabbing occurred has issued a statement about the incident.
T-Pain posted on Twitter to ask people for help identifying the person who committed the crime. The news station de- scribes the suspect as “a 5’9′′,
displaying jewelry. Baylee says when she admired one piece the guy went nuts, and then Chris followed suit by demanding she "get the f*** out" and pointed a gun at her.
Recently married singer Ray J completely countered Cur- ran’s account.
“Check it out. I am real upset about today. I am not happy with how things are handled and how people can take a false story and blow it up into some- thing way more than what it should be,” Ray J said.
“You got positive people around and you look outside anditislikeawarzoneforno reason.
Ray J accused Curran of making a run at Chris Brown’s money.
JAYANTA JENKINS
Jayanta Jenkins, former global creative director of ad- vertising at Apple/Beats by Dre, has earned Twitter’s highest cre- ative role.
This is big news since it is rare to see a Black leader in an exec- utive role at a tech company, let alone at one as globally domi- nant as Twitter.
Jenkins has previously led successful campaigns for Nike, Gatorade, Powerade, and much more.
“I feel fortunate to have worked at a lot of great places, from an agency in the south at Martin in Richmond to Wieden and Chiat,” he added.
“My journey has led me to this moment and I just want to con- tinue on the path of putting out interesting things and things that create inclusion. I want to continue to extend myself and kick a**, to be honest.”
Young Thug
Young Thug knows when
credit is due. He made waves by wearing a dress on the cover of his No, My Name is Jeffery mixtape. While many mocked the Atlanta rapper, some, in- cluding Erykah Badu, saw the art in the intention and said that he reminded her of Andre 3000.
Young Thug took to Insta- gram to acknowledge the leg- endary singer for her sentiments.
“Thanks Ms. BADOU... Andre 3000 is also known for his gender-bending fashion and paved the way for personal expression outside of the gang- ster persona in Hip Hop. While he has remained fairly quiet musically lately, he appeared on Frank Ocean’s Blonde
album.

We’ve already gotten a movie featuring the legacy and story of N.W.A with rumors of a sequel and a film telling the story of Tupac — now Dame Dash has decided to throw his hat in the ring.
In an interview with Dead- line, Dash announced a col- laboration with producer Lemuel Plummer detailing the journey of Dash’s co- founded Roc-A-Fella label. Planned to be a TV series, the show will give a “brutally hon- est” look into more than just the musical aspects of the label.
It sounds like everything from Jay Z’s Reasonable Doubt to Dash eventually leaving the Roc-A-Fella label and everything in between and behind the scenes will be cov- ered.
For those who don’t know, Roc-A-Fella was created to put out Jay Z’s Reasonable Doubt, which would go on to shoot Jay Z into superstar- dom. And the rest is history.
In that same breath, getting to the point of releasing said album and the aftermath that followed is a story worth telling, given the racial and musical climate of the ’90s. Dash also confirmed the show would touch on his eventual departure from Roc-A-Fella after the label was sold to Def Jam (for which Jay Z would be become president).
All of this and seemingly more will be covered in the TV series. At the time of an- nouncement, Jay Z hasn’t been confirmed to be involved in the series.
