The Tampa Bay History Center Observes Black History Month
The Tampa Bay History Center held its 1st Annual Black History Month Reception, last month on the evening of February 4, 2022. The theme was “Embracing Our Ethnic Kaleidoscope.”
Cedric McCray served as the Master of Ceremonies. Attorney Benjamin Crump was the keynote speaker, and Tampa native, Dr. Bernard LaFayette, co- founder of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), was the special guest.
Others on the program were: C. J. Roberts, Tampa Bay History Center President and CEO; Fred Hearns, Tampa Bay History Center Curator of Black History; Sonja Wise, Attorney Carolyn House Stewart, Planning Committee Chair; Dr. Rozelia L. Kennedy, Janet Nichols, Tampa Bay History Center Board Chair; and Howard W. Blake High School students, James LaFayette and Jeremiah Lafayette, gave musical selections.
