Devoted Sister, Aunt And Friend Passes Away

MR. CLARENCE CHESTER
A Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Clarence Chester of Tampa, Florida, who passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2018, will be held on Wednesday, September 19th, 11 a. m. at Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Rev. Jimmy Horton, officiating. The interment will be in Lang Cemetery in Brooksville, Florida.
Clarence Chester was born to the late Willie and Julia Chester on July 29, 1941 in Brooksville, FL.
Clarence leaves to cherish his memories with: his broth- ers, Willie Chester (Betty), Robert Chester (Ethel) and Earnest Chester, Sr. (Karen); sisters, Shirley Thomas, Dorothy Franklin, Delphine Motley (Jack) and Barbara Smith (Roderick); aunts, Vera Chester, Gladys Chester and Charlotte Chester; nieces, Porshia Chester, Jameesa Clark (Howard), Gale Philson, Chevelle Lynn, Valerie Jenkins (Harold), Tammy N’uman (Daab), Stephanie Brown (Cory), Deborah Thomas and Michelle Lynn; nephews, Earnest Chester, Jr. (Maisha), Reginald Chester (Deborah), Ezekiel Thomas, Jr., Ferris Morgan (Lisa), Daryl Motley (Yvette), Allen Lynn (Clara), Kairi Coleman and Khalid Coleman; favorite running partner, Calvin Law- son; and a host of cousins, grand nieces, grand nephews, family members and friends.
The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 18th, from5to7p.m.Thefamily will receive friends from 5 to 6 p. m.
The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Wednesday for the service.

MRS. MAMIE RUTH WASHINGTON ASHBY
Mrs. Mamie Ruth Washing- ton Ashby, 70, of Tampa, passed away suddenly on Monday, Au- gust 27, 2018. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Sep- tember 22 at 2 p. m., at St. James A. M. E. Church, 5202 S. 86th Street, Tampa, FL. Interment will follow in Garden of Memo- ries Cemetery.
Mamie was born in Live Oak, Florida, to Joe Washington and Ruth Ivey Washington Houston. She was a 1965 graduate of Howard W. Blake High School, and a 1969 graduate of Bethune- Cookman University with a B. A. Degree in Foreign Language and English.
Mamie was employed by the School District of Hillsborough County for over 44 years. Her distinguished career included teaching Spanish, English, and ESOL in middle and high schools, as well as in adult edu- cation and night school pro- grams.
She was an active member of Mt. Zion A. M. E. Church; a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.; Bethune-Cook- man University and Howard W. Blake High School Alumni Asso- ciations; and various civic and professional organizations.
Mamie was preceded in death by: her parents; sister, Marva Brown; and brothers, Thomas Hills, George Washing- ton, Willie Washington, and Ervin Washington, Sr.
She is survived by: husband, Gregory Ashby; daughters, Aki- lah Graham-Allen (Greg) and Jasmine Ashby Belton (Marlon); brothers, Lee Washington (Ruby), Lonnie Houston (Shirley) and Alexander Pugh; sister, Viola Archbold (Kenny); sisters-in-law, Sanook Washing- ton, Eartha Hills, Coralee Elring- ton, and Sandra Carney; brother-in-law, Derek Ashby; grandchildren, Jamie Leggett, Noah Allen, Jonah Allen, Nylah Allen, and Gregory Allen, of Tampa, FL; stepchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The remains will repose after 5 p. m. Friday, September 21 and the wake will be held from 6:30- 7:30 p. m. at Ray Williams Fu- neral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL.

A longtime resident of Tampa, Mary passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2018.
She grew up on 21st Street and Columbus Drive in Ybor City.
For many years she worked as a Portrait Consultant/Photogra- pher for Olan Mills. Many people throughout the Tampa Bay area viewed their portraits with Mary at Olan Mills Studios.

Three Wanted
For Cigarette
Theft
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is currently searching for three men con- nected to a theft. The crime took place last Tuesday, shortly before 5 a.m.
According to police, three Black men, all between the ages of 18 and 25, entered the Circle K Store, 2810 College Avenue, E, in Ruskin. The men climbed over the store counter and filled trash bags with about 50 cartons of cigarettes. The cigarettes are valued at $7,000. All three men then fled the scene in a gray sedan, possibly a Nissan Altima.
