BY GWEN HAYES Sentinel Editor
She’Xcellence is prepar- ing to host the 2nd Ladies Empowerment Summit this year. The event, with several women speakers, fashion show, and praise and wor- ship service, will be held on Saturday, September 22nd, 10 a. m., at the Embassy Suites By Hilton Tampa Brandon, 10220 Palm River Rd.
She’Xcellence is less than a year old, having been founded in November 2017 by Mrs. Alysia Lance. A motivating speaker, Mrs. Lance says her goal is “to empower and inspire women to walk in excellence and live in a way to produce excel- lence.” Her desire is to see everyone excel in life spiritu- ally, physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially. Her motto is: “Pray, Plan, Execute.”
What is She’Xcellence? Mrs. Lance describes She’Xcellence as “a self-dri- ven avenue destined to em- power and inspire others to propel and excel in a higher level of excellence spiritually, personally and profession- ally. Who is SHE? A woman clothed with strength, dig- nity, and purpose, who walks the path of excellence.” Proverbs31:25.

Mrs. Lance hosted the first Ladies Empowerment event this past February. The success of that event led to planning for the upcoming event, which has led to the March 23, 2019 summit. More details will follow.
Married to Tobias Lance, they are the blessed parents of 8 children and one granddaughter. Mrs. Lance is a successful business owner and holds a Master’s Degree in Human Services.
She is a prophetic inter- cessor, speaker, and the au- thor of “I’m Coming Out,” a workbook published from her first Women’s Confer- ence, “I’m Coming Out,” back in 2013.
Wearing many hats and playing many roles, Mrs. Lance says, “At every Em- powerment event, I want to release some new and excit- ing news to keep the ladies empowered and inspired.”
When asked how she jug- gles the different roles, Mrs. Lance replied, “with the strength and grace of God, who has also blessed me with a loving supportive hus- band...loving and encourag- ing children, family and friends.”

All-Star Band
ANTWAUN UNDERWOOD, SR. ...Founder/Director Embracing Legacy Community All-Star Marching Band
BY GWEN HAYES Sentinel Editor
Registration is now open for those middle school and high school students with at least one year of band experi- ence, who want to become a part of a community march- ing band.
Embracing Legacy Com- munity All-Star Marching Band, a youth outreach of Re- vealing Truth Ministries, is looking for at least 150 stu- dents who are interested.
Those who are interested should send an email to marchinglions@embracin- glegacy.org with your name, school name, age, instrument you play and phone number. Tryouts will be held later this month and those who re- spond will be notified via email or phone call.
Antwaun Underwood, Sr. is founder of the band. “God gave me the vision (of a community band) back in 2006. I shared that with (the late) Pastor Gregory Powe (Pastor of Revealing Truth
Ministries) and he allowed me to grow the vision as an outreach ministry, starting in 2007. We continue to march in his legacy under Senior Pastor Bryan Powe,” he explained. The band started with 7 students and 1 instru- ment. Last year, the band consisted of more than 100 students.
In their 11 years of exis- tence, the band has per- formed for several notables: Snoop Dogg, President Barack Obama, Bahama Parliament, Tampa Bay Storm, Judge Hatchett, Tampa Bay Rays, several community events and the church’s Joy of Giving holi- day event.
In addition to teaching the kids about their instruments, Underwood says the kids will also be taught life skills. “We want them to be a posi- tive light in the community, as they grow and continue to develop their craft,” he said. There is also an opportunity to earn a scholarship.
Underwood says his main instrument is the French Horn, followed by the Trumpet.
The band is a year-r0und project that also has the sup- port of WWE’s Titus O’Neil. Area band directors also work closely with Underwood to help build the band and teach the kids all kinds of instru- ments.
Underwood was an As- sistant Band Director at Blake High School for several years. Currently, he is an Assistant Band Director at Middleton High School.
He is married to Debra Dawkins Underwood and they are the parents to 2 sons.
