Webster’s Dictionary de- fines communication as “a sending, giving or exchanging of information, ideas, etc.”
An effective communicator should be clear in imparting in- formation to others. Managers in any organization should be
able to communicate with their employers with openness, hon- esty and clarity.
What are some of the bene- fits of effective communica- tion? 1) It builds relationships 2) it increases productivity and 3) it builds employees’ confi- dence.
Skilled communicators are good listeners. They listen to gain understanding and are better able to clarify any mis- conceptions that may arise in the workplace.
Effective communication works both ways: one speaks, the other listens.
