Alternatives To Taking Aspirin For A Headache
The most common types of headaches are migraines, tension and cluster headaches. Tension headaches are usually a dull achy feeling on both sides of the head.
A migraine is a common type of headache that may occur with symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, or sen- sitivity to light.
Here are some ways to treat headaches without medication:
• Put a heat pack or an ice pack on your head or neck.
• Take a hot shower.
• Get enough rest or sleep. • Go to bed and get up at
the same time every day.
• Take time away from things that are stressful. This could mean doing anything from taking a brief walk to taking a vacation.
• Do not skip breakfast. Fasting is a common cause of headache.
• Get regular exercise of all types. Work up to exercis- ing for 30 to 60 minutes, 4 to 6 times a week. Yoga, meditation and relaxation therapy can also relieve headaches.
Is Your Dinner Helping Or Hurting Your Prostate?
Good nutrition is key to a healthy prostate, and cutting down on certain foods can help treat and prevent prostate problems, including enlargement and cancer.
Fruits and Vegetables - A diet beneficial to a healthy prostate is primarily meat-free and full of fruits and veggies. Both contain cancer-fighting vitamins, minerals and fibers that sig- nificantly reduce the chances of prostate issues.
Fiber - Whole grains, beans, nuts and seeds are among the high-fiber foods that reduce the risk of prostate problems. Fiber at- taches to toxic and carcino- genic materials, allowing them to be eliminated from the body.
Fluids - Water is key to a healthy diet’s influence on the prostate gland. Water
transports nutrients and waste, enhances chemical reactions, and regulates body temperature and blood volume. Drinking plenty of water throughout the day is especially important for those on a high-fiber diet, because failing to do so can sometimes lead to intestinal problems.
Supplements - In addi- tion to healthy foods, certain nutritional supplements and
treatments can further pre- vent prostate issues. Vita- minsA,CandE,aswellas selenium, lycopene, and be- tacarotene reduce oxidative damage in prostate cells.
Flax Seed can inhibit tumor growth, while green tea polyphenols have been shown to block cancer-caus- ing compounds. And, Saw Palmetto can help reduce inflammation and the growth of malignant cells by blocking the conversion of testosterone to DHT.
Remember that prostate disorder risks, in- cluding prostate cancer, can be controlled. In addition to getting regular prostate screenings beginning at age 40, improving what you eat can be one of the simplest ways to help improve and maintain the health of your prostate.
