Tampa Bay Students Meet Steve Harvey At Walt Disney World Resort
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Bay-area students enjoyed an exciting moment with Steve Harvey, Minnie and Mickey Mouse at the eighth-annual Disney Dreamers Acad- emy with Steve Harvey and ESSENCE Magazine, a four-day, once-in-a-lifetime ed- ucational and mentoring pro- gram for a select group of 100 high school students. The stu- dents – also identified as “Dreamers” – were selected from more than 10,000 appli- cants nationwide and are now among only 800 students to hold the honor.
Danyscia Jarvis of Riverview and Alec Estrill of Tampa were the only Tampa- area students selected for the program this year.
The program featured an ex- clusive weekend of dreaming big, discovering possibilities and preparing for the future. Along with a parent or guardian, each teen received an all-expense-paid trip to Walt Disney World Resort, where they learned important net- working skills, participated in hands-on career workshops and created fun memories to cherish for a lifetime.
Students were also moti- vated and inspired with presen- tations from other noted professionals and celebrities, including: TV and radio host, Steve Harvey; recording artist, Yolanda Adams; Bishop T. D. Jakes; celebrity chef, Jeff Henderson; renowned educator, Dr. Steven Perry; motivational

Seven Enlistees Complete Basic Military Training
Seven individuals with ties to the Tampa Bay Area have graduated from basic military training for the U. S. Air Force. Their respective graduation ceremonies were held at the Joint Base San Antonio-Lack- land, in San Antonio, Texas.
Among those who recently graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San An- tonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas are: Airman 1st Class Charlotte Bertoch, Airman 1st Class Alexander Colon, Airman Tredon Luster, 1st Class Krynn Perdue Rosien, Airman Gerrilyn Smith, Airman 1st Class Francisco Urdaneta, and Airman 1st Class Vic- tor A. Vega.
The airmen completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in mili- tary discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fit- ness, and basic warfare princi- ples and skills. They also earned four credits toward an Associate in Applied Science Degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Airman 1st Class Bertoch is the daughter of Melissa Bertoch, and grand-
daughter of Janet Bertoch, of Tampa, and Carl Bertoch, of Crystal River. She is a 2014 graduate of Plant High School.
Airman Colon is the son of Daniel Colon, of Valrico, and Elizabeth C. Colon, of Tampa. He is also the brother of Antonio R. Colon, of Tampa, and the grandson of Carmen B. Alarco, of Bran- don.
He graduated from Bloom- ingdale High School in 2013.
Airman Luster is the son of Tremaine Luster, of Tampa, and Donikka Luster, of Trotwood, Ohio. He is the grandson of Donna Black, of Trotwood, Ohio, and Bessie Earl, of Huber Heights, Ohio. He is also the nephew of Tynyl Barnes, of Dayton, Ohio.
Airman Luster graduated from Trotwood Madison High School, in Trotwood, Ohio, in 2014.
Airman 1st Class Perdue Rosien is the daughter of Kristi Smith and step-daugh- ter of Steve Kottwitz, of Bushnell, granddaughter of Jessie Perdue, of Danville, West Virginia, and Frances Sullivan, of Huntington, West Virginia, and niece of Char-
lotte Chafin, of Sissonville, West Virginia.
Other relatives include Jeannie Cribbs and Christina Kelbaugh, of both of Tampa. She is a 2012 gradu- ate of Boyd County High School, in Cannonsburg, Ken- tucky.
Airman Smith also earned distinction as an honor graduate. She is the daughter of Candia Robinson and Gerry K. Smith, and ward of Latasha N. and Delton B. Andrew, all of Tampa.
Airman Urdaneta is the son of Martha and Francisco Urdaneta, and the grandson of Elida Leon, of Doral, FL.
Airman Urdaneta gradu- ated from Belen Jesuit High School, in Miami, in 2008. He continued his education at the University of South Florida, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in 2013.
Airman 1st Class Vega is the son of Victor A. Vega Sr., of Tampa, and Milagros Ruiz-Taylor, of Gainesville.
He is a 2012 graduate of Buchholz High School, in Gainesville. He also earned an Associate Degree in 2014 from Santa Fe College, in Gainesville.
