Venus Williams Is Being Sued After Man Dies In Accident
Jrue Holiday was a player that was expected to re-sign with the New Orlean Pelicans fairly quickly, and that was indeed the case as he and the Pelicans have re- portedly come to terms on a deal early Saturday morning.
Holiday and the Pelicans have agreed to a 5-year, $126 million contract. There are bonuses added to the con- tract that could potentially raise Holiday's deal to $150 million. It will also include a player option on the final

year giving Holiday an out if he chooses to exercise it.
Venus Williams was in- volved in a deadly car accident in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida on June 9th. This week, the daughter of the 78- year-old man who died in the crash filed a wrongful-death lawsuit against the athlete.
According to a report from the New York Times, Audrey Gassner-Dunayer and her family seek compensation for all of the damages caused by the accident.
According to the lawsuit, filed on Thursday and ob- tained by The New York Times, Linda Barson, 68, who was driving the vehicle that t-boned Venus’ SUV, also sustained injuries, including “a cracked sternum, shattered right arm, broken wrist, hand and fingers.”
Williams, who arrived in London on Wednesday to pre- pare for her 20th Wimbledon tournament, made her first public comments about the crash with a post on her Face- book page Friday evening.
"I am devasted and heart- broken by this accident," she wrote. "My heartfelt condo- lences go out to the family and friends of Jerome Barson and I continue to keep them in my thoughts and prayers."
Venus Williams is competing at Wimbleton this week. She was uninjured in an accident that occurred in early June that left a man dead, and his wife injured.
Patty Mills is staying with the San Antonio Spurs. After a successful season with San Antonio there was potential for Mills to find a new home in free agency.
Mills and the Spurs agreed on a 4-year, $50 mil- lion deal for Mills. That's not breaking the bank by any means, but it's a hefty con- tract for someone who has been a backup point guard most of his career.

According to the police re- port: The witness claims the light changed to green, and that the Barsons had a green light when Venus Williams crossed the westbound lanes in front of the Barsons.
Barson’s wife was the driver stated she was traveling west on Northlake Blvd, in the right lane, approaching the in- tersection and was slowing for a red light, when the traffic light changed to green. She claimed that she proceeded through the intersection when Venus cut across in front of her and she was unable to avoid t-boning Venus.
Venus however, states she
was traveling across Northlake Blvd, having exited from Stee- plechase Drive on a green light, and stopped in the me- dian break due to other traffic. Williams who was traveling 5 mph, advised she did not see Barson when she crossed the westbound lanes.
Police officer David Dowl- ing of the Palm Beach Garden police department in his report wrote that Venus Williams was at fault for violating the right of way of the Barsons vehicle. However, he did not ticket either driver, according to Venus Williams’ attor- ney, Malcolm Cunning- ham.
