e were appalled by statements made by a group
of Republican women who support the nomina- tion of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. According to CNN News, five women on a panel “said that they believe Kavanaugh’s denials and none said they think the incident should disqualify him from being on the Supreme Court,” even if it turns out to be true.
One woman asked, “Who are we to judge?” None of the women believed Christine Blasey-Ford and all of them dismissed her claims as either misremembered – based on jealousy – or overblown. Most startling was one woman’s question – “What boy hasn’t done this in high school?”
Well, one of our staff members asked five young men between the ages of 17 and 52 years of age had they ever engaged in the type of behavior that Kavanaugh is being accused of, and each of them said, “No.”
Moreover, they said they knew of few men who had done so. They were each surprised that some women believed attempted rape was so common among teenagers until it had no bearing on men’s character and that such actions should not have consequences. None of the men belonged to a fraternity.
However, Black collegiate male fraternities do not have reputations for sexually assaulting women and each of them selects a woman to be their queen. We know of them all, none of them have a history of treat- ing women abusively.
Even in a party atmosphere of drinking, most of the fraternity men are proud of and upholding of their or- ganizations’ high standards of behavior. No. Republi- can women, “Millions of boys haven’t . . .”
10 Ways To Recognize A Woman Beater
henever I hear
about women being beaten or killed by their hus- bands or significant others I often wonder if they knew what they were getting into before they became involved with their would-be tormen- tors or killers? While I'm sure the average woman beater doesn't introduce himself as "Mr. I'm-Going- To-Stay-Kicking-Your- Ass," it's hard to imagine a person like this not showing a hint of his true character
early in the relationship.
Of course, a woman would have to know what to look out for in order to recog- nize who she's dealing with before it's too late. So in an effort to help that naive young lady who lacks the ability to read her suitor for any signs of derangement, I've come up with 10 red flags that should let her know if she's come into con- tact with a potential Ike
Turner.
10.) He's seems too
good to be true: Contrary to popular belief, men who beat women seldom look or act the part. They're usually more Billie Dee Williams than Mike Tyson. That extra charm and politeness could be a smoke screen. Don't let the smooth taste fool you.
9.) He Becomes Over- ly Attached Too Soon: If a man tells you he's crazy in love with you within the first 30 days of dating you could be dealing with a potential stalker. Early declarations of extreme affection usually in- dicate one of two things: He's lying or not wrapped too
tight.
8.) He Doesn't Wear Facial Hair: Here's the deal. Men (particularly Black men) who walk around with what's known as the "booty face," and who are not members of The Nation Of Islam, usually fall into one of these categories; State prison institutionalized, child-mo- lesting-creep, transgender or vicious con-man. Neither of whom I'd feel comfortable with spending time with my daughter, mother or sister.
7.) He's Easily Of- fended: If he can't take a joke, and becomes bent out of shape after every per- ceived slight, you could be in the presence of a ticking time bomb. Anything can set this sensitive maniac off. It wouldn't be wise to be around when he decides to blow.
6.)HeHasABadRe- lationship With His Mother: These guys are typ- ically the worst kinds of human beings. Any man who doesn't love and respect his own mother is an accident waiting to happen. He usu- ally has a problem with women in general. And since he can't take his frustration out on the real target of his rage, you'll become the reli- able stand-in for his hate.
5.) He's Overly Pos- sessive: If after the first time you have sex he starts saying things like "It's the best I ever had" or "I better not catch you giving this to somebody else," you may want to hold back on giving up the pie because you're dealing with a walking re- straining order.
4.) He Has Crazy Mood Swings: This is usu- ally a sign of some level of a Bi-polar condition. While these individuals may not necessarily resort to vio- lence, you never know what you're going to get from hour to hour. Sometimes it's bet- ter to leave that problem to the next female who may be better equipped to handle his issues.
3.) He's A Heavy Drinker: Alcohol has a ten- dency to cause people to make very bad decisions. And drunks make a habit of doing things that they regret later. Emergency rooms stay occupied by women whose skulls and faces have been caved in by men who could- n't hold their liquor. Don't become one of the statistics.
2.) He's A Chump: The guy who's often clowned by other men doesn't make for a good partner. He won't stand up to the guys teasing him because he's can't fight. But he'll have no problem trying to regain his manhood by bullying you. Always remem- ber, a coward is the most dangerous creature on Earth.
1.) He Hits You: This should be a no-brainer. But a lot of women tend to over- look something this obvious. Once a man places his hands on you, he'll definitely do it again if you let him. His first blow should be his last be- cause you either stood your ground and put him to sleep or you packed your bags and left. Those should be the only two scenarios that follow a physical confrontation un- less you want more of the same treatment.
Any woman can become a victim of domestic violence. But, by learning how to spot the flaws ahead of time, she can avoid a bad situation be- fore it even gets started.
