Jacksonville Family Wants Answers After Son Killed Execution-Style
RALEIGH, NC —- The sis- ter of Grammy-nominated rapper Remy Ma was ar- rested last week in connection with a shooting that injured one woman.
The rapper’s sister, Re- meesha Alesia Blount, 27, allegedly shot a woman in the parking lot of the End Zone Lounge on New Bern Avenue and fired shots at a car occu- pied by three other women on Feb. 16.
When the three women tried to flee the scene, their car hit D’ericka Nicole Godley, the woman who had been shot, police said.
On Thursday, almost a week since the incident, God- ley was listed in fair condition at WakeMed Hospital in
Raleigh.
Blount was arrested at an
apartment complex on 3232 Hylton Drive the night of Feb. 16. She was charged with in- tent to kill inflicting serious injury, three counts of assault with the weapon with intent to kill, shooting into an occupied vehicle and discharging a firearm in the city.
Remy Ma, whose name is Reminisce Smith, often vis- its the Raleigh area because the majority of her family lives in North Carolina.
A magistrate ordered Re- meesha Blount held with- out bail based on a decision that she either would be un- likely to keep a court date or would be a danger to the com- munity if she was freed.
MACCLENNY, FL — The family of an unarmed Florida man who died in an execution-style shooting earlier in the month, are demanding that authorities arrest the person who pulled the trigger.
On the afternoon of Feb. 3,
Dominic Jerome “D.J.” Broadus II, a 31-year-old Jacksonville native described as a “storyteller” who was “loved”, “loyal”, and a “great dad,” was found dead outside of Macclenny, Fla.
Although Broadus’ family isn’t “100 percent” sure of what happened to him, the fact re- mains that he was unarmed and shot “three times” in the back of the head, “at close range.”
Broadus’ father, Dominic Jerome Broadus, Sr., iden- tified his son via a photo shown to him by authorities. The fam- ily didn’t physically see his body until three days after he was killed.
Dominic ‘D.J. Broadus, II was found dead in the back of the home of the son of a for- mer Fla. police deputy.
At approximately 3:45 p.m., officers responded to a call of a shooting at the home where they found Broadus’ body in the back of the residence, ac- cording to reports from police and the medical examiner.
Also at the home was Gard- ner Kent Fraser, the son of a former Florida sheriff’s deputy. Fraser was “es- corted” to the sheriff’s office where he was questioned and
released.
While Broadus was con-
sidered an “outsider” in Baker County, Fraser is a longtime “well-connected” resident, a message on the “Justice 4 DJ Broadus” Facebook page reads.
At least one other person was at the home where Broadus died, but according to The Root, the Baker County Sheriff’s Office redacted the person’s name from the police report, as well as further de- tails about the crime scene. Broadus’ cell phone was also never recovered.
Baker County Sheriff, Scotty Rhoden has turned over the case to the Florida De- partment of Law Enforcement, citing the need for trans- parency in the investigation. The FDLE was called in be- cause relatives and community activists saw a potential con- flict of interest in the Baker County Sheriff’s Department’s investigation.

 Disappears After Going
Home Sick On Feb. 12th
ATLANTA, GA — An em- ployee at Atlanta’s Center for Disease Control and Preven- tion(CDC) went missing after going home sick from work more than 2 weeks ago.
Timothy Cunningham, a 35-year-old Morehouse College alum with a master’s and doc- torate from Harvard Univer- sity, is an epidemic intelligence officer for the CDC, which re- quired him to travel for public health outbreaks including ebola, zika, and Superstorm Sandy, the Atlanta-Journal Constitution reports.
Cunningham, who is 6 feet tall and 200 pounds, left the office on Feb 12. He was re- ported missing two days later.
Friends and family insist that it’s unlike him to disap- pear.
According to his father, Terrell Cunningham, the family communicated “exten- sively” on Sunday, Feb. 11. “I pinpoint Sunday because there were some exchanges via phone as well as text that alerted me to be concerned about our son,” he said, per an NBC News report.
Timothy Cunningham has not been heard from since Feb. 11.
When Cunningham didn’t respond to text messages and phone calls his worried parents drove from Maryland to his home in Atlanta where his cell phone, car keys and wallet were found untouched, along with the beloved dog that he “never leaves unattended.”
Cunningham’s friends have reportedly raised a more than $20,000 reward in hopes of finding him.
DETROIT, MI — In an ac- tion that a local fire chief called “heroic,” Ralph Gilles, Fiat Chrysler’s Global Head of De- sign, used his Jeep Wrangler’s bumper to push a burning Ford Edge away from a crashed Ford Fiesta and its trapped occupants, having ar- rived first at the scene of what was to become a fatal car crash in suburban Detroit, local newspaper Oxford Leader re- ports.
After midnight last Sunday, a man in a Ford Edge traveling down a rural road in Addison Township, MI crossed into the oncoming lane, and struck a
2013 Ford Fiesta, which had two occupants inside.
Gilles was the first person to the scene, arriving just after the initial crash as the Edge driver was exiting his vehicle. While moving his Jeep Wran- gler to park somewhere safe, Gilles witnessed a second col- lision: a 1997 Buick LeSabre also crashed into the Fiesta, pushing the compact car close to the Ford Edge, which caught fire.
Gilles pushed the burning Edge across the road, as the local paper Oxford Leader de- scribes:
Gilles explained that he
was lucky he was in something with a big bumper and four- wheel drive that night.
The fire department was able to get the Fiesta’s two oc- cupants out of the car, though one of the two—a 57 year-old woman from Goodrich—died after being taken to two hospi- tals. Her husband is in stable condition, the Buick driver sus- tained minor injuries, and the Edge driver also suffered minor injuries, the newspaper reports.
The Edge driver has been put in jail, and the police deputy claims that he admitted to drinking.
