Journalist Tiffany Greene Debuts On ESPN’s GameDay
BY GWEN HAYES Sentinel Editor
She’ll be doing play-by- play Sunday afternoon (3 p. m., ESPN2) for the Orange Blossom Classic coming from Miami.
Tampa native and FAMU School of Journalism gradu- ate, Tiffany A. Greene was excited about her debut ap- pearance on ESPN’s Game- Day. But she was more excited about the station’s flagship show, GameDay football sea- son kick-off featuring Histori- cally Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) on last Saturday.
A play-by-play announcer for the network, Greene and her co-anchor, Jay Walker were on the station’s segment of GameDay to talk about the

game later in the evening that featured Alcorn State Univer- sity and North Carolina Cen- tral University. The game was played in Atlanta, GA. This was the first ever visit to a MEAC/SWAC game by the network. Greene and Walker are both graduates of
HBCUs (Walker of Howard University). “This was a great way to illuminate HBCU foot- ball,” she said.
For the game later in the evening, Greene was the side- line announcer, while Walker, Mark Jones and Robert Griffin, III (RG III) called the game. The sideline was nothing new for Greene, however, it was another op- portunity to show her versatil- ity. “I just enjoy being down with the players and talking to different family members.” Plus, she added fun to the tele- cast as she asked the announc- ers trivia questions.
Preparing for the games are a little more difficult than the actual game, where she gets to be herself. “It’s a lot of reading, watching films and back games, following social media to prepare,” she said. Her game producer, Kim Bel- ton gets a great deal of credit for assisting her in preparing for games.
This week, Greene has been busy studying her own FAMU Rattlers and the play- ers of Jackson State Univer- sity, the Tigers. They will face each other on Sunday, Sept. 5, in Miami at the Orange Blos- som Classic. The game will be on ESPN2 at 3 p. m. She and Walker will announce the game.
Greene is the daughter of Dayle and Patsy Greene; the wife of Aaron Berry and the mother of 2 sons.
SENATOR DARRYL ROUSON
Last week, Senator Dar- ryl Rouson (District 19) sent a letter to U. S. Senator Marco Rubio, with CCs to U. S. Senator Rick Scott and U. S. Representative Al Lawson. The purpose of the letter was to ask that the Tal- lahassee Federal Court House be named in honor of the late Justice Joseph Hatchett.
Congressman Al Law- son is sponsoring HR 4771 with that request. Senator Rouson, in his letter, is ask- ing the two Senators to sup- port the bill in Congress.
Sen. Rouson talked about the kind of gentleman, Justice Hatchett was. The
JUSTICE JOSEPH HATCHETT
native of Clearwater, FL, was in the courtroom for more than 50 years. “He was firm, but fair,” Sen. Rouson said. Justice Hatchett “was a bea- con of inspiration for my fel- low African American attorneys.”
Justice Hatchett served the country from the Florida Supreme Court to the Federal bench.
Sen. Rouson said, “He was a mentor to many inside and outside the practice of law...”
