Charmettes Spread Holiday Cheer
From left to right: Antonia Barber, Dee Williams, Ruby French and Jackie Dryden.
Recently, the Hillsborough County Chapter of the Charmettes delivered gift baskets for expectant and new mothers to the Alpha House of Tampa. Pat Langford is the Executive Director. The Alpha House offers homeless pregnant women and displaced women with young children a safe nurturing living environment as they search for the tools to become self-sufficient, effective parents.
Local chapter president Delores Williams explained that the organization’s biggest impact is accomplished through charitable giving. Earlier in the year Charrmettes donated funds to the West Tampa Boys and Girls Club, C.H.O.I.C.E.S. group home for boys and Miracles Outreach Center, which is a shelter for girls in foster care.
At the National Convention, a sizeable donation is given to Howard University to support cancer research. The Hillsborough County Chapter is passionate about its dedication to charity proj- ects. Antonia Barber serves as Chairperson of the Charity Com- mittee and Sylvia Salter is the Reporter.
