The Tampa Bay Bucca- neers superstar wide receiver Mike Evans and his wife, Ashli Evans, awarded $65,000 in scholarships to students in Tampa, Fla., Galveston, Texas, and other cities.
As part of the Mike Evans Family Foundation scholar- ship program, the foundation selected 13 recipients out of more than 100 applicants "whose resilience and personal achievements stood out among the rest."

Bobby Bowden, the folksy Hall of Fame coach who won more than 350 games and built Florida State into one of college football's great dynas- ties with two national champi- onships has died. He was 91.
Bobby's son, Terry, con- firmed to The Associated Press that his father died at home surrounded by family early Sunday morning. Florida State also announced the news on social media.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are rewarding defensive coor- dinator Todd Bowles with a new contract after his unit’s dominant performance last season.
Bowles is getting a new three-year extension that will keep him the NFL’s highest- paid defensive coordinator.
After more than a decade of defensive struggles under a long list of various coordina- tors and systems, Bowles has returned the Tampa Bay de- fense to the level they enjoyed

the last time they won the Super Bowl, so it should be no surprise that his unit’s contri- butions were a huge reason why the Bucs hoisted the Lom- bardi Trophy for a second time last year.
XAVIEN HOWARD
Miami Dolphins cornerback Xavien Howard publicly re- quested a trade last month, but the Pro Bowler is not going anywhere.
Howard and the Dolphins have agreed to a restructured contract, according to Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport of NFL Media. The team has rescinded all of the money that Howard was fined for missing minicamp in addition to adding incentives to his deal.
The Dolphins have also as- sured Howard that they will renegotiate his contract after the 2021 season to pay him more in line with his perform- ance.
Howard was initially set to make $12.1 million this season. His teammate, Byron Jones, signed a five-year, $82.5 mil- lion free agent contract with Miami last year. Howard was frustrated that he led the NFL in interceptions with 10 last season and wasn’t even the highest-paid defensive back on his team.

The Semi- noles were a force during his 34 seasons as coach, winning 12 Atlantic Coast Conference championships and national titles in 1993 and 1999.

Each of the recipients re- ceived a $5,000 scholarship toward their 2021-2022 school tuition and fees.
The foundation's co- founders, Mike and Ashli Evans, congratulated the 13 recipients during a virtual award ceremony where the students were able to express their gratitude and how the scholarship helped make going to college possible for them, the foundation said in a press release.
Mike Evans is from Galveston, Texas, area hence the connection to the Galve- ston students who received scholarships.
Last Friday the Los Angeles Raiders hosted former Pro Bowl defensive tackle Gerald McCoy for a visit and promptly signed him.
McCoy is 33 years old and didn’t play in the NFL last sea- son. He was initially signed to a three-year deal by the Cowboys but was cut prior to the start of the season after rupturing his quad.
Between 2012 and 2017, McCoy made six-straight Pro Bowls and was named All-Pro

Mic With Great Line To End
Hall Of Fame Speech
Edgerrin James gave a great speech at his Hall of Fame enshrinement ceremony in Canton on Saturday. He con- cluded it with a memorable line as well.
James, 43, played in the NFL from 1999-2009. He made four Pro Bowls and led the NFL in rushing his first two seasons in the league.
Throughout his Hall of Fame speech, James’ theme was about fighting perception. He talked about how he was able to stay true to his roots and character via his physical appearance, while never stray- ing from a work ethic that turned him into a Hall of Famer. He noted how it was

recommended that he get rid of his dreadlocks in order to play in the NFL, but he kept them and proved people wrong.
That theme was hammered home with a great closing line. The former Miami star said his “career started with gold teeth, and ended with this gold jacket.”
