GOSSIP GENTLEMEN’S CLUB
A strip club on 56th Street that has seen its share of pro- blems has been shut down for code violations.
Over the decades, the club at 4948 North 56th Street has been known as the Fantasy Men’s Club, Fantasy Dolls, Pure Essence, and now the Gossip Gentlemen’s Club. Authorities said it has been a spot for illegal activity since it first opened.
After a shooting in the parking lot of the club caused it to shut down in July, calls to law en- forcement from citizens about the club, and an August raid that uncovered six different drugs and the arrest of seven employees and patrons, it was code violations that finally forced the club to close.
The Hillsborough County At- torney’s Office recently filed for an injunction to shut down the club after the county code en- forcement staff found 32 viola- tions during an inspection.
Offenses have ranged from the legal operating a sexually ori- ented business and selling alco- hol without the proper permits, and a lack of disabled parking, dangerous electrical wiring, holes in walls and a rotting wood frame.
