Former Bears, Bengals and Packers running back Cedric Benson died on Sat- urday in a motorcycle crash in Austin, Texas, according to multiple reports. He was 36.
KVUE reports that emer- gency services responded to calls about a motorcycle and car crash around 10:20 p.m in West Austin. According to police, a minivan pulled out of a crossroad and hit the mo- torcycle as it was driving by. Both Benson and a woman in her 30s who was riding with him were declared dead at the scene.
News of Benson’s death began to trickle out through social media before it was of- ficially confirmed when his brother, Dominic Benson, posted a grief-filled status on Facebook and said his brother was “gone” in the comments.

Also in the social media shuffle was a comment that Mack Brown, who coached Benson through all four of his years at Texas, on an In- stagram post of a picture of the running back. Brown’s comment read, “We lost a great one way too soon. #RIP.” Perhaps the most har- rowing post came from Ben- son himself, who posted on his Instagram story a photo of his motorcycle with the cap-
tion “My Saturday evening.” A group of people were seen mourning outside of Benson’s home in West
Austin.
Benson racked up four
1,000-yard seasons as a member of the Texas Long- horns football team. He earned the Doak Walker Award as the country’s top running back in 2004, and was a consensus All-Ameri- can.
In 2005, the Chicago Bears drafted Benson fourth overall by the Chicago Bears, and was on the 2006 squad that played the Colts in the Super Bowl. His career re- ceived a jumpstart when he joined the Bengals in 2008, rushing for 4,176 yards and 21 touchdowns in his four years there. Benson ended his ca- reer in 2012 with the Green Bay Packers.
Ezekiel Elliott Reportedly Won't Be Charged For Las Vegas Altercation
Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott won't be charged for his May 19 al- tercation with a security guard in Las Vegas.
Prosecutors determined they couldn't move forward with charges after reviewing all of the evidence in the case and meeting with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
Elliott was placed in handcuffs when Kyle John- son, who was working as a security guard at the Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas, told police Elliott knocked him to the ground in a park- ing lot.
Johnson pressed
EZEKIEL ELLIOTT
charges against Elliott last month, explaining he made the decision after the NFL and the two-time Pro Bowler
tried to brush the incident off. "To not have anything happen to him, the NFL is ba- sically saying it's OK to go to Vegas, get obliterated and shove people over fences," Johnson told Enzo
Marino of Fox 5. Johnson's decision
came after the NFL ruled El- liott, who met with Commis- sioner Roger Goodell on July 2, wouldn't be sus- pended under the league's personal conduct policy.
Citing police documents, TMZ noted the case against Elliott will now be closed.
Elliott has slimmed down from 230 pounds to 220.
