Jury Convicts Man In Murder Of University Of Tampa Student
Teenager Struck
Pedestrian Killed, Driver Charged In St. Petersburg

Last Friday, a Hillsborough Circuit judge sentenced a Tampa man to prison. He was convicted of fatally shooting a college student during an armed robbery.
Circuit Judge Emmett Lamar Battles sentenced David Earl Williams, Jr., 25, to two life sentences in prison.
Williams was convicted of approaching University of Tampa runner Ryan McCall and his friend, Michael Harahan on August 19, 2009, as they walked across the Boulevard Bridge during the early morning hours. Dur- ing the commission of the of- fense, McCall was shot and died from his injuries.
Tampa Police Investigators Sal Agueri and Chuck Mas- succi were assigned the case. They arrested Williams nearly three years after the murder in May 2012.

ily decided to cooperate with police. They felt it was for his (Williams’) own protection. They felt he would either get killed or kill again and they just didn’t want that to hap- pen,” Det. Agueri said.
Det. Agueri said during the interview with Williams, Williams “admitted to every- thing but pulling the trigger.”
Prosecutors said that after being approached by Williams, McCall and Harahan were approached and told what to do. When they didn’t move fast enough, Harahan was struck on the head with a gun. Harahan re- portedly told McCall to run. McCall’s body was found on the side of North Blvd.
A 15-year-old teenager died Saturday after being struck by a vehicle. He was crossing County Road 579 near Thomas Street, shortly after 9:15 p.m., when the accident occurred.
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office, Donald McIntosh, of Seffner, was struck by a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado truck, driven by John Pulaski, 38, of Thonotosassa.
Pulaski told police he ob- served McIntosh walking along the shoulder of the road, looking down at his cell phone. He said after observing the teenager, he began to slow down when suddenly and with- out warning, McIntosh darted into his path. Pulaski swerved, but was unable to avoid hitting the teenager.
McIntosh was thrown ap- proximately 60 feet from the point of impact and died at the scene. The teenager was not crossing at an intersection and there was not a crosswalk at the location, police said.
The investigation is continu- ing, however, no chargers are expected to be filed against Pu- laski, police said.
Bank Robber Sought
This is a surveillance photo of a man suspected of robbing a Riverview bank Friday.
Detectives with the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office are asking the public for help in identifying a man who robbed a bank in Riverview.
OnFridayat9a.m.,aman entered the Suncoast Credit Union, 13141 South Highway 301, and approached the tellers. The suspect reportedly pulled out a handgun and de- manded money. After getting the cash, the suspect left the bank and was last seen running through the parking lot.
The suspect is described as a Black male, 6 feet to 6’2” tall, 30 to 35 years old, and lat seen wearing a black zip up jacket, dark pants, light blue hat, a dark mask, blue latex gloves and a black backpack with red trim.

JASON LANARD MITCHELL .....driving speeding vehicle that killed one man, critically
injured another.
St. Petersburg Police report that one man is dead and an- other is in critical condition after they were struck by a speeding car as they walked on Central Avenue early Saturday morning.
Police reported that Jason Lanard Mitchell, 25, was speeding in a rented car when he ran a red light and hit Aaron Jerome Davis, 31 and Brian Lee LaFrance, 28, as they crossed 2nd Street.
LaFrance was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, but hospital offi- cials said he was later stabi- lized.
The impact sent Davis over the roof of the car. He was pro- nounced dead at the scene.
Davis, a popular chef in the area, was walking home at the time of the accident to be with his pregnant wife.

Before the accident, police said they saw a vehicle leaving Interstate 375 onto 4th Avenue North at a high sped, and tried to stop the car before it turned onto 2nd Street and red a red light.
Mitchell was charged with vehicular homicide, DUI manslaughter, aggravated fleeing and eluding, leaving the scene of a crash involving death and DUI with serious bodily injury.
Police said Mitchell at- tempted to escape after his ar- rest, but was quickly caught.

On Sunday morning, Tampa Police reported that a man fleeing being shot during an attempted robbery crashed his car into an apartment.
Police said the man was sit- ting in his vehicle with a woman in the front of the Park Terrace Apartments, 4115 Sce- nic Lakeshore Court, when two Black males in their 20s ap- proached with hoodies drawn as to cover their faces, police said.
The suspects demanded money from the man in the car who drove off with one of the suspects firing a shot at him, police said.

Police said a single bullet struck a building, and several bullet casings were found at the scene. No one was injured.
Man Shot To Death After Dispute Outside Bar
St. Petersburg Police are in- vestigating a murder that oc- curred in the parking lot of the Stinger Bar, 2222 49th Street, South early Sunday.
Police said James Cason, 33, was involved in a verbal dispute at the bar with another man. During the dispute, po- lice said Cason was shot in the upper body while driving a car.
No description was released of the shooting suspect and the investigation into the shooting is continuing.
