Brandon Wal-Mart To Reopen This Fall
Rebirth Baptist Church Pastor Celebrates 21st Anniversary
According to Wal-Mart officials, the Wal-Mart at 1208 East Brandon Boulevard is scheduled to reopen this fall and has started the process of hiring 400 associates to work in the store.
Wal-Mart was criticized when the store closed in April under allegations that the plumbing in the store was faulty. It turned out to be one of five stores that were closed nationally with only a few hours notice to the em- ployees.
That short notice raised speculation that the stores were shut down by Wal-Mart’s Corporate Staff in retali- ation for workers organizing for better pay.
As far as the 400 associates are concerned, those who either transferred from the store when it was closed or took the corporate severance package can come back to work.
Anyone interested in working at the store an visit a makeshift office in suite 104 in the plaza adjacent to the Brandon Wal-Mart or go online to www.walmart.com.
