    The Hook On The Horizon
henever doctors hear about the lack of inter- est people have in re-
ceiving a vaccine that may help slow the spread of the Coron- avirus, many of them seem dumbfounded by the skepticism. For these individuals, who've dedicated their lives to the field of science, it's unconscionable that a person would even contemplate refusing help that could, at least potentially, save his or her life during a pandemic.
What most of these medical ex- perts choose not to accept is that people have a good reason to be skeptical of any form of assis- tance from the government where their health is concerned. This is mainly due to the fact that, time and time again, the U. S. has shown a tendency to disregard ethics in favor of furthering their agenda.
This was first made clear dur- ing the infamous Tuskegee Study, an experiment conducted by the United States Public Health Serv- ice (USPHS) that, for 40 years (1932-1972), intentionally al- lowed 399 Black men from Macon County, Alabama, to suf- fer from the symptoms of syphilis.
They did so in an effort to document the debilitating effects the infection would have on Black people. Even after penicillin be- came the standard treatment for the disease in 1947, the re- searchers conducting the experi- ment continued to administer bogus medications to the partici- pants for 25 additional years to keep their patients sick.
By the time the study con- cluded, 128 of the men had died of complications stemming from the disease, 40 of their wives had
been infected and 18 children had acquired congenital syphilis. All of these lives were purposely de- stroyed in the name of medical advancement.
In another display of gross in- humanity, that was deemed nec- essary for the "greater good," the U. S. tested 67 nuclear weapons between 1946 and 1956 on or near the Bikini Atoll islands in the South Pacific. During one of these events, the U. S. military removed the Rongelap people from their island home and used the loca- tion as a target for a Hydrogen bomb.
Knowing that the environment was severely toxic, when the test was over, the U. S. government allowed the islanders to return so that they could monitor the amount of damage extreme radi- ation exposure does to the human body.
If we're lucky, the vaccine won't have anything hidden in its DNA that will, ultimately, make the cure worse than the disease. But, with Vice President Joe Biden making reference to the coming of a "dark winter" during the last presidential debate, you just never know.

     Don’t Believe The Polls: Vote
Do not even think about it! If you don’t vote, you will actually be voting for Donald Trump. If you think you don’t need to vote because the polls show Joe Biden carrying a lead ahead of Donald Trump in the polls, you do need to vote like Biden is President Obama and will lose if you don’t vote this weekend.
There is no excuse. We know you have plans to spend the weekend relaxing. Don’t think because Biden is ahead in the polls, that you can stay home and not vote. We have heard voter’s remorse in 2016 by voters who stayed home and didn’t vote because they thought Hilary Clinton was going to win because of the polls.
Almost half (117 million) 0f eligible voters did not vote in 2016. No doubt, voters who stayed home cost Clinton the 2016 Presidential election. We cannot af- ford to repeat the non-voting behavior in 2020. Every able-bodied and eligible voter has three more days to vote early. Every state needs to have an increase in vot- ers in order to make sure Biden wins both the popular vote and the votes of the Electoral College.
There are so many issues riding on this election, among which are the $15 per hour minimum wage, which Trump and other Republicans do not support; the health insurance for 22 million Americans that Trump wants to repeal with no plan to replace it; our environment and climate because of Trump’s rollback of Obama era environment protection laws; funding cuts for police departments; cuts to safety net programs (food stamps, student loans, federal housing assistance, Medicare and Medicaid) and $300 billion in additional deductions in nondefense spending programs for low- and moderate-income Americans.
Indeed, people most likely to vote for Trump are the Americans that Trump policies will hurt the most.
Remember, “the 2017 tax cuts gave large windfalls to high income individuals and corporations. The tax cuts did not make it to the low-and moderate-income Amer- icans.
VOTE, VOTE, VOTE!
