 Co-Chairs Announced For TOBA’s 38th Annual Leadership Breakfast

The Tampa Organization of Black Affairs (TOBA) has announced its co-chairs for the 38th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Leadership Breakfast.
This year, the Breakfast will be held on Dr. King’s birthday, Monday, January 15, 2018. The 6:45 a. m. event will be held at the Downtown Tampa Hilton Hotel.
TOBA takes pride in men- toring future leaders. Each year, a male and female are selected by the planning committee to chair the an- nual Breakfast. By working on special projects, these per- sons get to hone their organ- ization, management, leadership, communications and speaking skills.
This year’s co-chairper- sons are Kourtney Berry
KOURTNEY BERRY
and Donovan Clerin. Both are natives of Tampa and products of Hillsborough County Public Schools.
Ms. Berry graduated from Middleton High School in 2008. She continued her studies at Florida A&M Uni- versity, where she became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorority, Inc., and graduated with a degree in Public Relations.

Ms. Berry was chosen to participate in the Alfred Fleishman Diversity Fellow- ship in Houston, Texas at Fleishman-Hillard, a global communications firm. This opportunity propelled her ca- reer in the agency sector of public relations and afforded her a full-time position in her hometown with Hill and Knowlton Strategies.
After nearly two years, Ms. Berry moved on to work directly impacting her community, through Sun- coast Credit Union. In her current role of Youth Out- reach Specialist in the Mar- keting Department, she is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with community and colle- giate partners – coordinating and promoting financial liter- acy through workshops and unique events on campuses
throughout 21 counties.
She also dedicates time to the community through Brothers United Building Brothers Alliance, BUBBA, Inc., a local mentoring and
youth development group. Continuously working to in- crease her role in serving the community, Ms. Berry is a full-time graduate student at Saint Leo University.
Donovan Celerin grad- uated with an International Baccalaureate diploma from C. Leon King High School in 2009. He pursued his under- graduate studies at Harvard University, where he earned his B. A. in Economics and a Secondary in African Ameri- can Studies.
As a member of the Har- vard football team, he was a 4-year player at defensive back and 2-time Ivy League Champion. He was also a member of the Harvard In-
vestment Association and volunteered at the Phillips Brooks House Association where he served as a senior counselor overseeing a sum- mer youth enrichment pro- gram for students from low-income families in Cam- bridge.
Upon graduation he re- turned to the Tampa Bay area where he began his career at Raymond James Financial, Inc. as a Due Diligence Ana- lyst within Asset Manage- ment Services. As a member of the Manager Research & Due Diligence team he helps oversee and manage a multi- billion dollar investment platform on behalf of Ray- mond James’ clients. He con- tinues to pursue his interests in socioeconomic empower- ment, community develop- ment and education through his participation in various local organizations.
    Nominees For Second District Court Of Appeal Chosen
     The Second District Court of Appeal Judicial Nominat- ing Commission has selected the nominees for appoint- ment to fill a judicial vacancy on the Second District Court of Appeal. The vacancy was created by the retirement of Judge Douglas A. Wal- lace.
The nominees are: The Hon. Michael F. An- drews, J. Andrew Atkin- son, The Hon. Kimberly Carlton Bonner, Matthew J. Conigliaro, Suzanne Youmans Labrit, and Stephen R. Senn.
The nominations have been forwarded to Gov. Rick Scott and are the result of the commission’s deliberations on Nov. 17, 2017, following
