Former Auburn and San Diego Chargers running back Lionel James, who made a name for himself for being unstoppable despite his small stature, died Friday after a lengthy illness, the university said. He was 59.
Auburn announced the death of James, a 5-foot-6 player nicknamed "Little Train," but provided no ad- ditional details.
James played five sea- sons with the NFL's Chargers, who have since moved to Los Angeles, after being drafted in the fifth round in 1984. He set an NFL record with 2,535 all-purpose yards in 1985
Cardinals' Long-Term Deal
After watching four differ- ent quarterbacks start games in New Orleans last year, the Saints are looking to address the position this offseason. According to the NFL Net- work’s Jim Trotter, the Saints will explore the av- enues of the 2022 NFL Draft, trades, and free agency. If New Orleans decides to go the free agent route, it appears Jameis Winston could find himself returning to the Saints’ offense.
After spending a year as Drew Brees’ back up, Win- ston was tabbed as the Saints’ starting quarterback to start the 2021 NFL season. In seven games, Winston put up impressive numbers passing for 1,170 yards and throwing 14 touchdowns to 3 interceptions en route to a 5- 2 record. Winston’s impres- sive comeback year was cut short when he tore his ACL after a horse-collar tackle by

Winston’s first one-year contract in New Orleans was valued at $1.1M and last year’s deal was worth $12M. With Winston recovering from his knee injuries, the Saints could potentially re- sign him for a bargain deal. This would allow the Saints to still possibly pursue one of the Draft’s quarterback prospects.
The Saints will be making a huge mistake not signing Winston.

after leading the Chargers in rushing, receiving and kickoff and punt return yardage.
He led the AFC in recep- tions that season with 86 while setting the NFL record for receiving yards by a run- ning back with 1,027.
KYLER MURRAY
After weeks of drama, Kyler Murray is making two things clear: He's committed to remaining with the Arizona Cardinals long-term, and he "desperately wants to win the Super Bowl."
Murray's agent, Erik Burkhardt, released a lengthy statement Monday saying the star quarterback has sent a detailed contract proposal to the Cardinals.
Bruce Arians Doesn’t Want Jameis Winston Back With The Buccaneers
BRUCE ARIANS
Bruce Arians has been down the rabbit hole, and he doesn’t seem interested in going back.
As Arians’ Buccaneers face uncertainty at the quar- terback position, the team is reportedly not interested in pursuing Jameis Winston for a return to Tampa.
“I don’t think Bruce Ari- ans is fine with it. Been there, done that,” Bucs insider Rick Stroud said on “The Rich Eisen Show.”
