Crime Downtown Shooting Leaves
Video Leads To Arrest Of Murder Suspect
    1 Dead, 1 Injured
A 23-year-old man was arrested last week. He was charged with the murder of another man.
According to the Tampa Police Department, an unidentified 31-year-old man was shot around 3:30 a. m., on February 7th. The shooting took place in the 8700 block of N. 30th Street.
The victim died as a result of his injuries.
During the investigation, police obtained surveillance video which revealed infor- mation vital to the murder investigation. Using the video, detectives identified the suspect in the murder as Richard Anthony Griffin, Jr. Griffin was taken into custody on February 23rd and charged with second-degree murder. The investigation is continuing.

8 Members Of Drug Organization Sentenced
Detectives are investigat- ing a shooting that has left one person dead and another injured. It took place Sunday night in the 900 block of N. Franklin Street, shortly after 9 p. m.
According to the Tampa Police Department, when of- ficers arrived on the scene, they discovered that two peo- ple were suffering gunshot wounds.
One person was an- nounced deceased at the scene and the other was transported to a local hospi- tal. Police said the unidenti- fied shooter remained at the scene and was cooperative.
Police also spoke with sev- eral witnesses to the shoot- ing.
The shooting reportedly followed a fight. The investi- gation is continuing.
U. S. District Judge Susan C. Bucklew sen- tenced eight members of a Puerto Rico-based drug traf- ficking organization to fed- eral prison for conspiring to distribute cocaine in the Tampa Bay area. Each of the eight individuals had previ- ously pleaded guilty and were sentenced as follows:
Jacques Orsini-Mar- tinez, a/k/a “Papi,” 45, 13 years; Juan Carlos Orsini- Martinez, a/k/a “Tio Cano,” 46, 5 years; Jose Manuel Robles Negron, a/k/a “Chelo,” 27, 10 years; Pedro Javier Hernandez Sosa, a/k/a “Javi Car- olina,” 31, 6 years, 8 months; Raymond Jose De La Cruz, a/k/a “Sanky,” 46, 7 years, 3 months; Briss Malone Warren, 45, 4 years, 3 months; Luis Daniel Agosto Morales, 30, 5 years; and Josue Antonio Chinea Santos, 36, 5 years in federal prison.
The court also ordered Luis Agosto-Morales to forfeit $24,587, which are traceable to proceeds of the offense.
According to court docu- ments, the individuals were part of an organization that trafficked in cocaine deliv- ered from Puerto Rico via parcels sent to the Middle District of Florida. Proceeds of the cocaine sales were de- livered to Raymond Jose De La Cruz and Jose Manuel Robles Negron, to be returned to Jacques Orsini-Martinez and oth-
ers in Puerto Rico.
The cocaine sent from
Puerto Rico was supplied via a transnational criminal or- ganization operating in and around the Dominican Re- public and Colombia.
Juan Carlos Orsini- Martinez was in federal prison at the time of the con- spiracy, but used a contra- band cellphone to discuss the payment of drug proceeds back to Puerto Rico.

    Woman’s Body Found In Hillsborough River
  A woman’s body was re- covered from the Hillsbor- ough River last Friday morning, according to the Tampa Police Department.
The TPD’s Emergency Communications Center received a report of a body in the Hillsborough River near W. Comanche Avenue and Ola Avenue at
11:05am.
“Our Marine Unit re-
sponded and removed a woman’s body from the Hillsborough River,” said Tampa PD PIO Sandra Bentil.
A death investigation is underway, pending results from the medical exam- iner.
