Teenager Arrested After He Rams Police Car
The Pinellas County Sher- iff’s Office arrested a 16-year- 0ld teenager after he allegedly rammed a police vehicle with a stolen car. The incident took place about 3 p.m. Monday.
The incident began Monday after police observed a 2016 Honda Accord traveling west- bound on 38th Avenue, North, near 68th Street North. A computer inquiry revealed that the vehicle has been reported stolen out of Pasco County.
Officials said deputies did not pursue the vehicle, but were monitoring it when the driver began operating it er- ratically and turned on to 72nd Street, North. The deputies lost sight of it in the residential neighborhood.
A short time later, they ob- served the same car again traveling northbound on 78th Lane North, traveling at a high rate of speed. It was also weaving back and forth in the roadway.
When the vehicle reached 46th Avenue North, deputies used stop sticks to disable it. At that point, deputies said the driver, who was alone in the vehicle, repeatedly rammed the front end of the police cruiser. The driver then used the Honda to push the deputy’s car backwards to- wards the other deputy who was standing outside of his vehicle challenging the driver at gunpoint. The impact caused damage to both vehi- cles, police said.
The suspect then fled the scene eastbound on 46th Av-
