Netflix Is Airing Black Sitcom Classics ‘Girlfriends’, ‘Moesha’ And More
'P-Valley' Nabs Early Season 2 Renewal At Starz
P-VALLEY CAST
    Entertainment streaming giant Netflix has acquired the rights to multiple Black televi- sion shows from the 1990s and 2000’s sitcom era.
Girlfriends, Moesha, and One On One are among the popular titles coming to the platform. Strong Black Lead, a brand under Netflix geared to- ward Black centered content, announced the released dates through social media. Stars of the nostalgic programs also shared their excitement in a video.
Essence Atkins, star of Half & Half, shared how ex- cited she was for the show coming soon to Netflix. Tam- era Mowery-Housley ap- peared as well, saying the iconic Sister Sister catch- phrase “go home Roger!”

In total, seven sitcoms are taking Netflix by storm over the course of the next few months. Moesha, the teenage drama which starred R&B singer and actress Brandy, ar-
rived first on August 1. The Game comes soon after on Au- gust 15.
Both Sister Sister and Girl- friends arrive early September with the former on September 1st and latter on the 11th. The Parkers comes to Netflix on October 1st and finally, Half & Half and One On One on Octo- ber 15.
After just three episodes, P- Valley has earned a well-de- served renewal at Starz. The critically-acclaimed series has a super rare 100 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The sec- ond season of the show will feature 10 episodes, two up from the first season's eight- episode order.

 The 2020 Emmy nomina- tions were announced Tuesday morning by Leslie Jones, Laverne Cox, Josh Gad and Tatiana Maslany.
HBO's Watchmen scored the most nominations overall with 26. Zendaya broke through in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series race for her work in HBO's Eu- phoria. For Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, Billy Porter is nominated for Pose and Sterling K. Brown is nominated for This is Us. Issa Rae (Insecure) and Tracee Ellis Ross (black-ish) are nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Se- ries. For Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, An- thony Anderson (black-ish) and Don Cheadle (Black Monday) are nominated. Regina King (Watchmen), Octavia Spencer (Self Made) and Kerry Washing- ton (Little Fires Everywhere) are nominated Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Se- ries or Movie and Jeremy Pope is nominated for Out- standing Lead Actor in a Lim- ited Series or Movie for Hollywood.

Outstanding Support Actor in a Comedy Series nominees include

In the guest categories, Gi- ancarlo Esposito picks up a second nomination for The Mandalorian in the category of Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series. Ron Cephas Jones is also nominated in the category for This is Us. Out- standing Guest Actress in a Comedy Series includes nomi- nations for Angela Bassett (A Black Lady Sketch Show) Maya Rudolph (two nomi- nations for Saturday Night Live and The Good Place) and Wanda Sykes (The Mar- velous Mrs. Maisel). Eddie Murphy is nominated for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for Saturday Night Live. And the Outstand- ing Guest Actress in a Drama Series nominees include Cic- ely Tyson (How to Get Away With Murder), Laverne Cox (Orange Is the New Black) and Phylicia Rashad (This Is Us).
