New Maydell Drive Bridge Will Open Friday With Ribbon Cutting

They had the experience of seeing the crane remove trees and cut yards on break. We are just so glad that they are willing to earn hon- est money.

Hillsborough County will open the new Maydell Drive Bridge on Friday, January 28, at 10 a. m. with a ribbon- cutting celebration.
Hillsborough County re- placed the old bridge, which was determined to be struc- turally insufficient, with a wider bridge with two lanes of traffic, wider shoulders, and enhanced pedestrian safety features, including a barrier-separated, 5-foot sidewalk and a 10-foot-wide trail.
Commissioner Gwen Myers says the communities of Clair Mel, Palm River and Winston Park residents have waited three to four years for the completion of the new

Maydell Bridge and the new enhancements added is worth the wait. The bridge was built with multiple rev- enue sources, including Local Agency Program (LAP)
funding, which is federal funding distributed by the Florida Department of Transportation for local proj- ects.
The Maydell Bridge Proj- ect received $3,734,105 in federal funding. The total project cost was $11.4M. County Commissioners and County Administrator Bon- nie Wise will speak at the ribbon cutting about how the new bridge will impact the community. Commis- sioner Myers says the pub- lic is invited to this event, located in the center of the span of the bridge. Guests can park on the north side of the bridge along Maydell Drive, south of Adamo Drive.
