The 2021 Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade Cancelled
The City of Tampa MLK Parade for 2021 is officially cancelled. The parade will resume on January 17, 2022.
The Dr. Martin Luther King Pa- rade Foundation has decided to can- cel the 2021 MLK Parade, originally postponed until June 19, 2021. Though COVID vaccines have thank- fully begun distribution statewide and nationally, the Foundation feels that uncertainties surrounding the ef- ficiency and reach of the vaccination effort may still leave gaps in coverage for our community by the proposed June date.
The City of Tampa’s parade will now take place on MLK Day, Monday, January 17, 2022, with full participa- tion from our community at large and will hopefully be bigger and better than ever.
“Our primary concerns have al- ways been for the safety of our Parade
Foundation President, Robert Scott, Jr. “We are more comfortable with this decision in light of the pres- ent situation.”
The parade will start as usual at Cuscaden Park (2900 N. 15th Street, Tampa, FL 33605), beginning 12 noon, and end at Middleton High School. As always, the parade will be a free, family-friendly event and all are welcome.
The Foundation encourages com- munity organizations, churches, and businesses interested in participating in the parade to continue submitting their parade applications. The entry deadline is now extended to De- cember 17, 2021. Applications sub- mitted to date will retain their positions if desired. As always, pay- ments can be submitted online or mailed directly to the parade office at 5508 N. 50th St., Ste. 28, Tampa, FL 33610.
