Bridges Over Troubled Waters, Inc. Scholarships Presented
Confounded by the devastating demise of three valued board mem- bers – President, Irving Ward; Fi- nancial Secretary, Geraldine McLean and Scholarship Chair, Mary Darby, Bridges Over Trou- bled Waters, Inc., has still been able to fulfill its obligations to applicants for the 2021 Al Dixon Scholarship.
Congratulations are extended to the first-place recipient, Eric Scott, II and second-place recipi- ent, Arthur Price.
Described as “trustworthy, hum- ble, honest, intentional (and) the kindest and most respectful stu- dent,” Eric is a 2021 graduate of Riverview High School. He was a member of the National Honor So- ciety, on the Principal’s High Honor Roll and in the JROTC.
While in high school his ex- tracurricular activities included the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Key Club, football, and track, where he placed second at the District level.
In addition, he was President of Student 2 Student, received the American Legion Honorable Youth Award, the Poseidon Award, and was recognized as a HABSE Achiever.
As an active member of First Baptist Church of Progress Village, Eric is a part of the student min- istry, media team, choir and an usher. To his credit, he has logged in more than 175 hours of commu-

nity service, which included volun- teer work at Feeding Tampa Bay and Tampa Bay’s Brotherhood.
Eric has been accepted into Xavier University of Louisiana where his career choices will focus on Mathematics/Psychology.
Arthur is a 2021 graduate of East Lake High School. While there, he served as Team Manager of the Boys Varsity Basketball Team for four years.
Furthermore, he was in the STEM Program, a member of the Student Government Association, Junior Achievement, 100 Black Role Models Program and the Alpha Institute.

volvement includes volunteering for seven years at Brooker Creek Ele- mentary School, where he tutored students struggling in math and reading and assisted in the class- room, library and working at evening festivals. He also donated time at Citizens for Alliance for Progress (CAPS).
Arthur attends Mt. Moriah AME Church, where he participates in Youth Bible studies and volun- teers in the Technology Department recording and uploading worship services to the church’s Face Book page. He is said to be well-rounded, respectful and willing to help oth- ers.
Arthur is attending Bethune-
Cookman University, where he plans to concentrate on Graphics Design/Digital Design/Marketing.
