Miracles Outreach Has Big Plan For Annual Community Event
Stepping Out Of The Past
Lord, I release my past to You. I give You my bad memories and ask that You would heal me to complete wholeness so that they no longer hurt, torment, or control me. bring me to the point where my past, even as recent as yesterday, will in no way nega- tively affect today. I give You my past failures in the area of (name any recurring problem). Set me free from this. Even though I may be unable to completely resist the pull of certain things on my own, I know You are able to set me free. Make me a testimony to the power of Your healing and deliverance.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have be- come new. 2 CORINTHIANS 5:17
Lord, I confess any unforgiveness in my heart for things that have happened in the past, and I release all persons who are asso- ciated with it. I specifically forgive (name of person I need to for- give). Lord, heal all misunderstandings or hurts that have happened between us. I know that I can never be free and healed if I tie myself to others by unforgiveness, so I ask You to bring to light any unforgiveness in me of which I’m not even aware. Give me Your revelation and show me all I need to see in order to walk out of the shadow of my past and into the light You have for me today.
Forget the former things; do not dwell in the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland. ISAIAH 43:18-19 NIV
Lord, help me to be renewed in the spirit of my mind. Where I have made wrong choices in the past, I pray that You would forgive me and redeem those mistakes. Help me to forgive myself so that I don’t keep replaying them in my thoughts. Take all of my past failures and use them for good today. I know that because I have put You in charge of my future, I don’t have to fear that the events of my past will keep me from moving into all You have for me.
That you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the de- ceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created ac- cording to God, in true righteousness and holiness. EPHESIANS 4:22-24
On November 4, 2015, Mir- acles Outreach CDC held their first annual Holiday 300- “Feed the Community Fami- lies” at the Miracles Outreach Empowerment Center, 4501 East Hillsborough Avenue.
During the event, more than 300 households totaling more than 1,000 people re- ceived food baskets and free clothing, along with household supplies.
Although the event was successful, the organizers said their plan was to serve 300 families, but they had to turn away 75 families due to a lack of additional food baskets.
“We were still able to ac- commodate these families with food pantry items and household supplies,” said Michelle Walker, CEO of Miracles Outreach.
“The goal this year is to feed 400 families, so our mar- keting campaign will begin early. Our first gathering was an all-day event where volun- teers and sponsors worked hard to load and pack baskets.”
The event sponsors were Miracle Touch Maintenance, City of Tampa CDBG, J&S RX Pharmacy, Ann Thompson Re- alty, Cleve’s Hair FX, and Ex- citing Faith Alive Church.
“My husband and I woke up with a vision to feed and clothe families in need,” said Mrs. Walker.
‘This was all put together in a few weeks, because of our
passion and mission to serve families in East Tampa, and we hope to continue this success- ful event in years to come without turning away any fam- ilies.
“On behalf of the Miracles Outreach Community Deve- lopment Center, we thank everyone that participated in
this event, and look forward to an upcoming year of programs and additional services. We believe in East Tampa and know that without the support of community organizations and local businesses working together, our community will not thrive and achieve success as a whole.’

Design Of Civil War Memorial At Park Being Disputed
BY LEON B. CREWS Sentinel Staff Writer
Veteran’s Park, a 3-acre site at 3602 Highway 301, across from the Florida State Fairgrounds, was created to be a place where soldiers of every war would be recog- nized and acknowledged through a memorial.
Memorials at the park cover every war of conflict this country has been a part of, and pays tribute to all the people who gave their lives for their country.
Dave Braun, who is co- chair of the World War II Memorial, said their com- mittee had been meeting to put the finishing touches on
the Civil War Memorial, but found themselves involved in a dispute over the proposed design of the memorial and what it should be called.
“Although we’ve ap- proved a new proposal, there is still a dispute over the de- sign. It was supposed to be done in November 2015, but now it’s back on the table
again.
“Two years ago, we asked
for a checklist for the six me- morials we were planning. Now we’re being questioned about the accuracy of our ac- counts of the history of the wars.”
Braun said they rejected one plan that suggested the memorial be called the “War Between The States.”
“We want it to be called the Civil War Memorial. We also don’t want this to be a tribute to the Confederates.
“We want to recognize the men from this area who fought in the Civil War.”
Braun said everyone in- volved on their various com- mittees are volunteers, and right now they are trying to finish their remaining three memorials before the end of the year.
“As far as the Civil War Memorial is concerned, it wasn’t a balanced memorial and the original design was a failure. It did not recognize any of the points we re- quested on our check list.
“After the first of Febru- ary, we’ll know more, and we’ll be ready to move for- ward to get this project com- pleted.”
Veterans Memorial Park and Museum is operated by the Veteran Council of Hills- borough County and was es- tablished by the Board of County Commissioners as the representative of differ- ent veterans organizations within the county.
The objective of the Council is to act as liaison be- tween the county Govern- ment and the veterans community in Hillsborough County.
Funding for the park and museum come from grants and from the county.
