Jay Gruden Fired By Redskins
JAY GRUDEN
There has been speculation all season that Jay Gruden would be the first NFL head coach to lose his job, and the Washington Redskins have fi- nally decided to move on from him.
Washington fired Gruden on Monday.
The Redskins are 0-5 after their blowout loss at home to the New England Patriots on Sunday. Gruden chose to start Colt McCoy at quarter- back in that game, and the de- cision did not work out. McCoy completed just 18-of- 27 passes for 119 yards and an interception.

Anthony Davis cleaned up a LeBron James miss for the first score of the game. James got his first bucket to go -- plus an and-1 free throw -- a few minutes later to put the Los Angeles Lakers up 11- 0 over the Golden State War- riors, and L.A. rolled to a 123-101 victory in its presea- son opener Saturday.
Yes, there was a lot to like from the Lakers' dynamic duo in their first taste of action to- gether since L.A. acquired Davis, the six-time All-Star, in a blockbuster offseason trade in June.
"He's a monster," Lakers coach Frank Vogel said when asked about Davis. "It's going to be very difficult to slow him down with what we had around him. I'm excited about what he's going to do, and Lakers fans should be, too."
Vogel rested the pair the entire second half, but the two did plenty of damage before the break. Davis finished with 22 points on 9-for-16 shoot- ing, 10 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal. James had 15 points on 5-for-10 shooting, 8 assists, 3 rebounds and a steal.
