The Southern Soul Pinktober Breast Cancer Benefit Will Feature Jeter Jones
On Saturday, October 12th at The Musicale Theatre, Too Smooth in association with Dreamers of Tomorrow, will pursue war on breast cancer with some help from South- ern Soul Singer Jeter Jones.
The Southern Soul Pinkto- ber Breast Cancer Benefit Concert also includes Soul Singer Kemi Jones, Sultry Saxophonist Javaris Good- ing-Butts and hosted by co- median Ms. Tressa Bon’et. The artist line-up will make for an amazing night of music with breast cancer patients and survivors being honored.
Jeter Jones, who is known to most people as the “King of Trailride Blues,” cre- ated his first two albums while serving in the Army. When his buddies started buying his music on iTunes as they rode a bus to their next Army training assignment, he knew he wanted to do music full time. Jones says the mil- itary career gave him the structure, strategy and disci- pline he needed to become a successful artist.
He retired from the mili- tary after 20 years and put all of his energy into his singing career. He was awarded the 2015 ZBT Award, “Rising Blues Artist of The Year.” He has been nominated for sev-

eral awards and even won video of the year with “Room- mate” in 2016.
In 2017 he brought home the line dance song of the year, “The Cowboy Slide.” Jones has gained a lot of suc- cess; as well as being an out- standing entertainer he is known for his great vocal abil- ity and dance moves. Jones says, "It's a privilege to enter- tain for people. Make 'em smile or make 'em laugh. It just gives me joy!"
All Breast Cancer fighters, survivors and supporters are welcome to come out and enjoy an evening of music, celebration and inspiration.
A percentage of proceeds will be donated to breast can- cer patients. Tickets are avail- able by calling Too Smooth at 813-244-7474 and also on Eventbrite.com.
Good Deeds Define The National Days Of Kindness
Even though it’s too hot to feel like fall, one sure sign is the latest edition of the National Days of Kindness. For The Family is coordinat- ing this seasonal celebration both in Tampa and across North America. Even though it officially ended on September 30, your random act of kindness can still get the recognition it deserves.
Just send a smartphone video that describes the kind act that you, your friends, or your organization did to ForTheFamilyTampa@gmai l.com by October 9. You and your video could win a $25 gift card. Every video is also eligible for a Family Flame Award (it’s the Oscar of Kindness) and a $100 gift card to be presented at the Fourth Annual National FAM Awards in Tampa on Friday, November 22. Ward Cox of “For The Family,” stated the obvious: “When the videos of caring people give kindness the vis- ibility it deserves, communi- ties win.”
A good example is what ten employees of Positive Spin did recently at Trinity
Café 2. Positive Spin does an excellent job in helping vul- nerable families find housing and child care in addition to its job training and counsel- ing services.
Their volunteers were just as good at serving a multi-course meal in Trin- ity’s restaurant style-setting. About 70 people who may not otherwise have enough
to eat visited the Busch Boulevard location, one of two located strategically in Tampa. Positive Spin Exec- utive Director Jada McMil- lon said that, “Trinity shows its kindness everyday, and there isn’t a better way to il- lustrate what the National Days of Kindness are all about.”
It’s only one part of Kind- ness of the Heart. This on- going celebration of the positive involves people who not only send smartphone “selfie” videos of their own kind acts, but nominate oth- ers who have mastered the art of being kind.
Categories include: Par- ents, Sisters, Brothers, Sons, Daughters, Spouses, First Responders/Military, Volun- teers, Praise and Gratitude, Random Acts of Kindness, Kind Initiatives and Pro- grams, and Kindness to and from Animals. The dead- line for sending your video is November 1st.
If you’re tired of all the bad stuff that’s out there, you can help change that by showing your Kindness of the Heart. Learn more at www.StrongerCommunity.c om.
Executive Director Jada McMillon, in front center, and her col- leagues from Positive Spin let their kindness shine at Trinity Cafe 2. Elaine Thomas, Mikeala Okon, Sheila Ramos, Fred Bowden, Patricia Lodge, Vincia Dixon, Qiana Norman, Priscilla Perez, and Sharday Moore.
