Local
Promoters To Host Grand Opening Of New Bar
Community Invited To 2nd Annual Jazz On The Lawn At Edison
BY IRIS B. HOLTON Sentinel City Editor
This weekend, Tampa will undergo a change as a new en- tertainment facility opens its doors. This facility is a step back into time for the two hosts.
Odell and Raylo, both have experience in the adult entertainment arena. They joined forces because they have shared backgrounds. But they credit J. W. Corpora- tion with being the glue that holds everything together.
Their new facility is not a club, it’s a bar. And, in keeping with its step back into history, it will be named The New Lounge. It will be located at 10006 N. 30th Street in the Poinsetta Plaza across from Busch Gardens.
The grand opening will
take place on Friday, October 11th.
Odell explains that the at- mosphere in a bar is far differ- ent from a club. “There are only 3 bars now left in Tampa. A bar is different from a club. It’s a place where you can go, have a drink and communi- cate. It’s a place for the more mature crowd. And for young people with old souls.”
Raylo is new to the Tampa

area from West Palm Beach, but he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience with him. “A bar is more per- sonable. It has a feel good at- mosphere. We are going to have the best drink specials and will have free food, real food.”
They also said the bar will be open from 10 p.m. until 3 a.m. seven days a week. They even plan to have a disco ball to complete the atmosphere.
The building that has been transformed into the New Lounge is the former Pegasus Lounge. But, everything is new inside from the walls to the floors.
Odell and Raylo said they want the community to come out, enjoy themselves and just have a relaxing evening. How- ever, they said there is no room in the bar for drama.
Tina Young, Executive Director, Project LINK, Inc., Jeannette Bradley, CEO, What We Could Be Exchange, Inc., and Rodney Jones, President, Business Plans Plus, Inc., join forces with Candice Dodd, Principal, Edison Elementary School, to help improve student achieve- ment levels, raise funds for Edison’s free after school pro- grams, and positively impact the neighborhood where the students live.
