Tampa Native Completes Military Training
Airman First Class De- ja’nique C. Frierson enlisted in the U. S. Air Force last year. She completed all requirements for Basic Training and participated in her graduation ceremony on Jan- uary 15, 2016, at the Joint Base San Antonio Lackland, in San An- tonio, Texas.
Airman First Class Frier- son then enrolled in the Security Forces Academy at the same base. She participated in graduation ex- ercises from that training class on May 4, 2016.
While in training Airman First Class Frierson became a Chaplain Assistant White Rope and received a Letter of Apprecia- tion for volunteerism.
Airman First Class Frier- son graduated from Tampa Bay

Technical High School in 2010. She continued her education at Florida A & M University and Florida State University as an Ac- counting major.
She is the daughter of Chris Frierson, Toshimi and Joe Parker.
Tampa Native Completes National Training Course

Recently, a Tampa native was among 130 men and women to complete a national training course. The course lasted 10 months and focused on service during an emergency.
Ms. Jaritza Jones was among individuals from throughout the country who graduated from the Southern Region’s 22nd Class of the Na- tional Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) as a member of Federal Emergency Manage- ment Agency (FEMA) Corps.
Ms. Jones completed the program on April 21st, in Vicks- burg, Mississippi. She was also the recipient of $5,775 that she can use to continue her educa- tion or to repay existing quali- fied student loans.
As part of the course, Ms. Jones served 10 months with the FEMA in the administration

of emergency management and long term recovery activities.
Ms. Jones said, “My com- munity has the potential to have the same opportunities that I had. We just have to help them see the opportunities that are out there for them to achieve their full potential.
“I want to help my commu- nity thrive to be one that helps one another and continue a low violence rate. This is what moti- vates me,” she said.
