Tiger Woods Says The New James Bond Movie Is 'Incredible'
TIGER WOODS Tiger Woods is a James
Bond fan, and such a big one that he organized a private “friends and family” early- screening for the new movie, “Spectre.”
And he liked it so much that he did something he hardly ever does — he tweeted about it! He called it “incredi- ble” as he posed in front of a giant promotion for the film.
Metta World Peace Holding Raffle To Raise Funds For 'Family Defense'
METTA WORLD PEACE
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- Los Angeles Lakers forward Metta World Peace is raffling off his 2003-04 NBA Defensive Player of the Year trophy to raise money for charity, specifically for what he called "family defense."
World Peace said after practice Sunday that the goal is to raise $2 million to help young men become better partners and fathers.
"A lot of kids learn ... how to calls girls 'b's' and 'h's,'" World Peace said. "What about learning how to be a good father and be a good partner?"
World Peace previously raised about $671,000 for mental health charities by raf- fling off the championship ring he won with the Lakers in 2010.
"I won't have the ring or the trophy," said the 35-year- old World Peace. "I'm look- ing forward to it. No second thoughts."
He said the money he hopes to raise for "family de- fense" is also related to mental health.
Game 1 Of World Series Starts Tues- day-Mets Vs Royals
Beauty Unlimited
VALERIA
The time is about to change for the season, but this week’s Beauty Unlimited feature never needs to change. Valeria is ready for whatever challenge that comes, and is prepared to push back when she’s try- ing to get to the top. Valeria promises that she’ll set- tle for nothing less than complete success, and we all wish she finds it. Congratulations to Valeria as this week’s Beauty Unlimited feature.
Mets CURTIS GRANDERSON
NEW YORK -- Manager Terry Collins assembled the New York Mets' starting pitchers on Saturday at Citi Field and explained his ra- tionale for his World Series rotation order.
Then he turned to Game 1 starter Matt Harvey.
"You ready for it?" Collins asked.
Harvey looked at his manager and replied, "Damn right."
After Harvey starts Tues- day's opener against the Kansas City Royals, Jacob deGrom will handle Game 2 at Kauffman Stadium. Then, when the se- ries shifts to New York next weekend, Noah Synder- gaard will start Game 3 and Steven Matz will get Game 4.
Royals LORENZO CAIN
Collins does not intend to use any of his starting pitchers on three days' rest in the World Series, so the rookie Syndergaard would handle a winner-take-all Game 7 at Kauffman Sta- dium.
Still, Collins told Har- vey to be ready to appear in relief in the finale if the Fall Classic goes the distance. In- nings restrictions have been shelved given how close the Mets are to their first cham- pionship since 1986.
"He said, 'I'll be ready,'" Collins said.
Mets Outfielder Curtis Granderson and Royals Lorenzo Cain are the 2 African-Americans starting Tuesday. 7 Hispanic players will be playing in the World Series.
Floyd Mayweather Flaunts His Title Belt Collection
First Time Since Injection
While Floyd May- weather Jr. (49-0) may be hanging up his gloves for good after defeating Andre Berto in his retirement fight last month, his social media game remains strong.
He recently posted a photo on Instagram which shows his 23 title belts laid out on a pool table. The best part is that Mayweather is standing over the table, with two Golden Globes just hanging out behind him.
Here’s the caption that accompanied the photo:
“It took 19 years but they’ll talk about it forever. #tbe #tmt.”
INDEPENDENCE, Ohio - - LeBron James practiced Sunday for the first time since receiving an anti-inflamma- tory injection in his lower back and is on track to play in the Cleveland Cavaliers' sea- son opener in Chicago on Tuesday night.
"It's a good sign. It's a good step," said Cavs coach David Blatt. "We'll see how he responds later today and tomorrow, but he did a great job practicing today and hopefully that bodes well for Tuesday."
James was unable to par- ticipate in full-contact prac- tice for close to two weeks after receiving the shot in his back. He received the same shot in January and missed two weeks of the regular sea- son.
This time, however, the shot was planned as a preven- tative measure.
"It was something that was already planned from the medical staff to the front of-
LEBRON JAMES
fice to the coaching staff to myself that we would do this," James said. "When they say, 'rest,' it's not like I've just been sitting on my ass for a week and a half. Because I haven't. I've been doing so much strengthening and con- ditioning and things of that nature. The rest just comes from not being able to be in contact practices and pound- ing a lot on the floor.
"But it's always been in the works, and if it happens again where I need to sit down for another week for the better of the team, then [that will be] in the works as well."
FLOYD MAYWEATHER JR.
Say what you want about Mayweather’s demeanor, but he was just as good at promoting fights as he was in the ring. And he’s certainly not afraid to boast about his accomplishments, although he has earned the right to do that.
