Lil Uzi Vert Agrees To Pay $90,000 In College Tuition For Random Student Who
Death Row Records Is Now Owned By Hasbro
DEATH ROW AND HASBRO
Stopped Him In A Store And Asked For Money
As the great Michael Scott once told Wayne Gretzky, “you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”
Philly resident Raheel Ahmad lived this mantra and with one question, eliminated decades of future student debts.
On Thursday night, the Philly rapper, who is worth an estimated $17 million, was walking through a convenience store with his team before Ahmad courageously shouted: “Uzi! What’s good, bruh? Can you pay for my col- lege tuition?”
Uzi stopped in his tracks and then asked the guy, identi- fied as Raheel Ahmad, how much he owed.
“Ninety grand. I go to Tem- ple, bro,” the student re- sponded as he continued to film the encounter.
LIL UZI VERT
Uzi briefly pondered.
“Ninety grand? I could pay for that,” the rapper said. “But this is the thing, though: If I pay for your college, are you gonna finish college?”
After the student insisted
he would, Uzi asked for his In- stagram handle and instructed him to send proof of his enroll- ment.
“Make sure you show me all of your transcripts—every- thing. Show me all your papers and everything, and you’ll get 90 thousand from me. I’m se- rious,” Uzi said. “If you don’t show me, you won’t get 90 grand from me ... you gotta show me the proof.”
Uzi continues to prove that he’s got a bleeding heart. Last year, the 25-year-old rapper recruited various rappers and celebrities to donate to a fund he set up for XXXTenta- cion’s child and family follow- ing his passing. He’s also established an anti-gun vio- lence fund and has consis- tently dropped into local schools and empowerment programs to inspire kids.
In a wild turn of events, Death Row Records is now owned by Hasbro, the gargan- tuan toy and board game company that is behind My Little Pony, Furby, Monopoly, G. I. Joe, and many more clas- sic children’s enterprises. Death Row Records is, of course, the West Coast rap label that was founded in 1991 and put out major releases from Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and Tupac. Strange bedfel- lows!
But Death Row Records — and other labels, including Last Gang and Dualtone — are now part of Hasbro after the company bought the Cana- dian studio Entertainment One for a whopping $4 billion because the company owns
the lucrative Peppa Pig and PJ Masks franchises.
“The acquisition of eOne adds beloved story-led global family brands that deliver strong operating returns to Hasbro’s portfolio and pro- vides a pipeline of new brand creation driven by family-ori- ented storytelling, which will now include Hasbro’s IP,” Hasbro’s chairman and CEO Brian Goldner said in a statement. Hopefully that means a Snoop and My Little Pony collab is right around the corner.
Entertainment One has a valuable music division, and in 2013 they purchased Death Row Records’ catalog after its previous parent company went bankrupt
