Man Jailed After Victim Dies From Single Punch

Police have arrested a 36- year-old man and charged him in connection with a death. The victim died after being punched.
According to Tampa Po- lice, Edward Jerome Tay- lor, Jr., 32, of Tampa, and Ismael Ocasio, III, of Wes- ley Chapel, were in the park- ing lot of Club Envy, 3447 W. Kennedy Blvd., on January 3rd, when they became en- gaged in a verbal altercation over some missing property.
At one point during the al- tercation, Ocasio is alleged to have pointed a handgun at Taylor. He then set the gun aside and punched Taylor, causing Taylor to fall to the ground. Ocasio is also al- leged to have kicked Taylor once he was on the ground.

Officers on the scene began administering CPR to Taylor and he was trans- ported to Tampa General Hospital. He later died of his injuries.
Ocasio was arrested at the scene and charged with battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest without violence. He was re- leased from jail on bond.
Detectives continued their investigation pertaining to Taylor’s death. Detectives obtained a warrant for Oca- sio’s arrest and he was taken into custody and charged with manslaughter, aggravated as- sault with a firearm, as well as the previous charges of bat- tery on a law enforcement of- ficer and resisting arrest without violence.
Young Woman Suffers Fatal Gunshot Wound
An unidentified woman died at a local hospital Tuesday. She had been taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound.
According to Tampa police, an unidentified person or persons transported the woman to the hospital with a gunshot wound around 3 a.m.
The woman was only described as being in her 20s. She died shortly after reaching the hospital.
Police said the investigation is continuing and that it is unclear how the woman was shot. Everyone who may have knowledge of the shooting has spoken with police.
