  City To Host Two Community
 Meetings
The City will host two events in coming weeks that pertain to the community. The first meeting will be held on Thursday.
Members of the commu- nity are invited to attend a meeting to discuss Fairs Oaks Community Center. The meeting will be held January 23, 2020, at Fair Oaks Cen- ter, 5019 N. 34th Street, be- ginning at 7 p.m.
The meeting is being hosted by the East Tampa Community Redevelopment Agency Manager and the City of Tampa Parks and Recre- ation Department.
During this special meet- ing, those in attendance will discuss the assessment, fu- ture needs, and improve- ments for the Community Center and Playground.

The second community meeting will take place on March 12th, when the first Bridges To Business Meeting of the year will take place. It will be held at the Tampa River Center at Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park, 402 W. Laurel Street, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m.
This event is designed to allow entrepreneurs to meet with general contractors, de- sign-builders, job order con- tractors and other prime contractors for construction projects.
All construction subcon- tractors are encouraged to at- tend, including minority, women-owned, or small busi- nesses interested in doing business with the City of Tampa.
 Annual Ivy AKAdemy Celebration Is January 25th
 The Tampa Bay community is invited to the annual Ivy AKAdemy Celebration to be held on Saturday, January 25, 2020,from10a.m.–2p.m.at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 3005 East Ellicott Street, Tampa.
This free community festi- val event offers something for the entire family. It serves as the 2020 kick-off for all the programs and community serv- ice projects that will be offered by Gamma Theta Omega Chap- ter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, in part- nership with Gamma Theta Omega, Incorporated.
This year’s theme is “Finan- cial Freedom Summit – The Money Makeover.” Mrs. Lau- rell Jones, the excited event’s chairman states, “This event is designed to “Educate, Em- power and Entertain. We want the communities we serve to have an improved quality of life through increased awareness of

financial planning, wealth building and debt manage- ment.”
As a first-time recipient of a grant from Hillsborough County, Gamma Theta Omega will use those funds to provide financial toolkits (books and educational games) to families to educate them on basic money management skills. There will be workshops from
10a.m.to11a.m.withagespe- cific activities and information. The workshops “Filling up Your Piggy Bank” (K-3rd grade); “Racks on Racks on Racks, the Cost to Live Your Best Life” (teens) and “Free at Last: From Debt to Debt Free” (adults); are intended to armall age groups with sound finan- cial education and guidance.
Additionally, there will be an MLK history exhibit, voter registration, a reading pro- gram, arts and crafts, a bounce house, games, health screen- ings, youth entertainment, ven- dors’ row, free backpacks and refreshments.
