Sure you don’t want to be fat, unhealthy and overweight, but let’s face it: each of us enjoys being a little lazy sometimes. And don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with that!
But here’s how to have both your lazy day along with a good workout, all while sitting down.
Calf Muscle Toning
Give your calf muscles a work out by raising your legs up on the very tips of your toes while remaining seated. Your
calf muscles should start to burn after a few seconds. Hold for ten seconds and then repeat eight times.
Core Muscle Toning
Strengthen your core by rotating at the waist while re- maining seated. Ro- tate as far to the left as you can and...
... hold for five seconds, then
repeat on the right. Complete five sets. Grab the backrest of your chair with your hands for extra support.
Crunches
Thought you only could do crunches laying down, huh? Wrong!
Move to the edge of your seat and lean back on the backrest. Then lift your straightened legs a few inches above the ground and raise your back a few inches off the backrest.
Feel the burn in your ab- dominal muscles and hold for ten seconds. Eight reps of ten seconds each can strengthen your core considerably when done regularly.
Butt Tightener
Tighten that area where the sun don’t shine by squeezing and holding your butt cheeks for a period of four seconds each.
Do 10 reps and rest for 1 minute. Repeat three times. Over the course of a week you should feel a difference in the muscle of your gluteus max- imus.
Leg Lifts
Starting with both feet flat on the floor, do leg lifts, starting first with the right leg and then the left. Lift each leg until it touches the underside of your desk. Do ten sets of eight reps to strengthen your thigh mus- cles and your core.
What Is a Virus?
A virus is a small infectious agent that can only replicate inside the living cells of other organisms. Viruses can infect all types of life forms — humans, animals, plants and microorganisms, including bacteria and ar- chaea. They’re found in almost every ecosystem on Earth, and they’re the most abundant type of biological entity.
Viruses have actually been described as “organisms at the edge of life” because they carry genetic material, reproduce and evolve through nat- ural selection, but they lack cell structure, which is generally needed to be considered living.
There are many ways that a virus spreads. In animals, a virus is car- ried by blood-sucking insects. Some viruses, like influenza, is spread by coughing and sneezing. Viruses like viral gastroenteritis (infectious di- arrhea) are transmitted by the fecal–oral route (which is a result of poor sanitation) and are passed from person to person by contact or enter the body through food and water.
HIV is one of several viruses that is transmitted through sexual con- tact and by exposure to infected blood. The scary thing about contract- ing a virus is that antibiotics do not work.
Vaccines are also unpredictable, and viruses, including those that cause AIDS and viral hepatitis, evade these vaccine-induced immune re- sponses and result in chronic infections.
What Are Antiviral Herbs?
Antiviral herbs inhibit the development of viruses.
They can be used to treat infections without caution because they’re harmless and typically cause no or few side effects. Many antiviral herbs boost the immune system, which allows the body to attack viral pathogens. This can be even better than attacking specific pathogens, which antiviral drugs are designed to do, because pathogens mutate over time and become less susceptible to treatment.
