Dr. Carter G. Woodson School Holds First Talent Showcase
FRIDAY, JANUARY 24, 2020
Dr. Carter G. Woodson School held its 1st community talent showcase December 12, 2019. The event was held in the Wood- son Gymnasium.
Woodson debuted their Woodson Wolverettes Dance team, Unstoppable Step X Step team, Dr. Carter G. Woodson Theater Troupe and Chorus teams.
The Chamberlain High School Golden Steppers and the Oak Park Drumline performed as special guests!
After School Directors, Dr. P. Tucker-Johnson and Norma Pierce coordinated with Band Directors, Mr. Jay Gar- rett, Ariel Bell and the Talent Show Committee.
Also assisting with this production were: After School Enrich- ment Coaches, Adria Johnson and Samantha Underwood (dance), Jerminique Cannon and Carry Desulme (Step), Lance Felton (Theater), and Renee Damon (Chorus).
Mr. Lesander Washington and Chadwell Supply donated to the showcase. Great faculty and staff and parents and volun- teers were there to assist.
The Principal, Mr. Ovett Wilson encouraged the event and constantly reminded everyone, “There’s greatness in you!” (Pho- tographs by Frederick Harris)
Coach Adria Johnson was the Dance Coach and host for the event.
Jerminique Cannon enthused the audience when she sang “The Greatest Love.”
Sisters who enjoyed the program: Krista White and Regan Leonel.
Black Girl Magic: Ms. Thomas, Myah, Samara Barney, Car- olyn James, Karen Ramos, Zariah Aiken, Janae Jordan and Mirode Barney.
Representing the Oak Park Drumline: Jamie Pyper, Dauris Schlemmer, Desiree Kavoris, Saniya Cirinitie, Kadarian, Kah’Niyah, Haliyah, and Myriah Clairoce.
These Golden Steppers are: Ashanti Mattear, Alexis Hamilton, Adrianna Belin, Shayla Myers, Roshyra Bembry, and Dynasty Kindell.
