Health
It doesn’t matter what age you are, everyone wants a smaller belly or at least a flat tummy. And it seems like with every bite of your favorite foods, we get further and further away from that goal. But that just means, some other foods need to start being our favorites. Like these foods that actually help shed off that midsection of yours.
Can we agree that all ad- vice isn’t good advice? Some- times your friends want to tell you how to do something even if they haven’t been through it (*shaking my head*).
So, instead of boring you with tips that are just theo- ries, here are some marriage and relationship tips from couples have been married for at least 25 years or more.
1. Don’t Go to Bed Angry: Even if you can’t re- solve a disagreement before you hit the sheets, you can agree to let the anger go for the night. Remind each other how lucky you are — even as you disagree — to have each other to disagree with.
2. Give Compliments: To give a compliment, you’ve got to pay attention — really notice something about someone. If it’s been a while since you’ve doled out flatter- ing praise, try it. It costs noth- ing to say, “You look good,” “You did a great job,” or “I like your shirt.” Yet compli- ments can really reassure and
pump up your spouse.
3. Hold Hands: Back in
our parents’ time, hand-hold- ing and discreet pecks on the cheek were the tasteful, chaste displays of affection. Although anything goes these days, its encouraged that cou- ples simply hold hands in public. It somehow affirms to everyone your undying affec- tion and love for each other, and it shows everyone that you are proud to be with each other and you want everyone to know it.
4. Be a Little Old-Fash- ioned: Once you are in love, ask questions like: Is this per- son likely to be a good provider? Can they manage money? Are they likely to be a good parent? Because mar- riage is a financial arrange- ment in addition to a love one and one in which your eco- nomic future is entwined with somebody else’s.
5. Observe Your Part- ner While Playing A Game: Watching someone play a game is “extremely di- agnostic.” You get a chance to
observe how someone be- haves under stress, whether they’re honest and how they handle defeat. Small things can tell you very big things about a couple’s suitability.
6. Do a Sense of Humor Check: Observe what makes your partner laugh. If he thinks a whoopee cushion is funny and you don’t, it certainly won’t get funnier for you 30 years from now. It’s a simple test of whether your world views align.
7. Cut Back on Com- plaints: Yesteryear’s couples had a comic reputation for nagging — yet, in truth, many partners often held their tongues. A stumbling block in modern marriages is a con- stant soundtrack of discord. Current generations think that closeness comes from sharing everything, letting each other know how miser- able you are. Relaying every annoyance is a bad idea. In- stead, pick your battles. “Not everything needs to be ad- dressed.”
Here’s our top three:
1. Cauliflower
take for overall weight loss, including your belly. A 1-cup serving of cooked cauliflower has 28 calories, 0.5 gram of fat, 5 grams of carbs and 1 gram of protein.
2. Squash
There are two types of squash, summer squash and winter squash. Both offer spe- cific advantages. Summer squash is good for weight loss because it is the lower of the two in calories. Spaghetti squash is a type of summer squash that is a particularly good diet food. One cup of
spaghetti squash has only 42 calories and contains moderate amounts of potassium and vitamin A.
While summer squash is lower in calories, winter squash of- fers its own weight loss benefits. Winter squash is much higher in dietary fiber. Not only does dietary fiber help satisfy your ap- petite, but it directly aids in weight loss by slowing down the rate that your body absorbs sugar and glucose. This keeps your blood sugar levels stable and discourages your body from releasing un- wanted insulin that will store fat.
3. Celery
Celery is what is known as a negative calorie food. In other words, you can ac- tually eat this to lose weight. In addition to being nega- tive calorie, it is high in vi- tamin C, calcium and is best enjoyed raw. Enjoying fresh celery juice before a meal
can even help you lose weight and burn belly fat eating it, as it is said will actually end up burning calories for you.
According to experts, it’s the fiber in cauliflower that’s going to help you trim your stomach fat. A 1-cup serving of cooked cauliflower has 3 grams of fiber.
It’s not only the fiber in the cauliflower that’s good for belly fat. It’s low in calories, which can help reduce your calorie in-
