Local
State And Federal Court Judges Honored By Local Bar Associations
In honor of Black History Month, the George Edge- comb Bar Association and the Fred G. Minnis, Sr. Bar Association recently held a reception honoring the African American state and federal court judges of Tampa Bay.
The event was designed to celebrate the accom- plishments of these judges, many of whom made his- tory themselves by becoming the first African American judge to serve within a particular jurisdic- tion. There were 18 black judges in attendance. The
event was held at the Robert W. Saunders, Sr. Public Library. Florida Supreme Court Justice Peggy A. Quince served as the keynote speaker, stressing the importance of an independent judiciary. (Photos by Ricky Roberts)
