Carmelo Anthony Has Verbal Agreement To Join Rockets
CARMELO ANTHONY Carmelo Anthony has a
verbal agreement to join the Houston Rockets, according to a report.
Anthony opted into the final year of his contract and was traded from the Okla- homa City Thunder to the At- lanta Hawks this summer. The Hawks waived Anthony, who cleared waivers last week. All reports have said An- thony will join the Rockets, but that hasn’t happened yet.
Anthony has reportedly reached a verbal agreement to join the Rockets and will sign with them when he returns from Africa.
Kyrie Irving, Gordon Hayward Expected To Be fully Cleared By Training Camp
KYRIE IRVING
Injured Boston Celtics stars Kyrie Irving and Gor- don Hayward still have an- other two-and-a-half months to recover before the start of the new NBA season, but it sounds like both will be ready well before then.
Appearing this week on the “Yahoo! Sports NBA” pod- cast with host Chris Man- nix, Celtics head coach Brad Stevens said that he expects the two players to be fully cleared by the start of training camp and likely long before.

LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s busy Sp- ingHill Entertainment and Gotham Chopra are produc- ing the series, which was orig- inally announced more than a year ago — before Laura In- graham in February on her Fox News primetime show suggested James and Kevin Durant and other pro ath- letes “shut up and dribble” rather than weigh in on social and political issues.
The comments came after the pair criticized President Donald Trump on Twitter, after the Golden State War- riors declined an invitation (or, per Trump, dis-invited) to the White House after it won the 2017 title.
James, now a member of the Los Angeles Lakers, re- sponded with his own hash- tag — #wewillnotshutupanddribble —andaretweetofaUSA Today story on Ingraham’s comments. His comment was, “I am more than an athlete.”
Showtime announced the
Shut Up and Dribble details during the network’s summer TCA session today at the Bev- erly Hilton, saying the series will use the Ingraham com- ments as a jumping-off point to chronicle the the modern history of the NBA and its players, starting with the 1976 merger with the ABA.
LeBron James, Lakers To Face Warriors On Christmas Day
LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers will face the defending champion Golden State Warriors on Christmas Day, league sources confirmed.
James' first Christmas Day game as a Laker will be the holiday's marquee matchup. James, who signed a four-year, $153M contract with the Lakers in July, faced the Warriors in each of the past four NBA Fi- nals as a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Manny Pacquiao may be interested in a rematch with Floyd Mayweather, Jr., but it sounds like “Money” is in- terested in something else.
Mayweather reportedly expressed interest in promot- ing the Filipino fighter.
“Actually, I’m gonna get on the phone with Pacquiao after I get off this call and get in touch. And we can put him in position and get him some...[there’s] a lot of good competition out there that he could fight,” Mayweather said.
Following his victory over Lucas Matthysse last month, Pac-Man said he was

open to a rematch with May- weather. Floyd hasn’t fought since beating Conor McGregor last year and probably has no interest in putting himself against a dan- gerous opponent like Manny. Instead he’s focusing on his promotional career.

Robinson Cano To Play First Base In Rehab Game
Robinson Cano will play first base during his first rehab game after being suspended for violating Major League Baseball’s Joint Drug Preven- tion and Treatment Program.
Cano was suspended 80 games in May after MLB was able to prove he used a diuretic to mask a drug. Cano has said he is willing to play wherever he is needed when he returns from his ban. He will have a chance to prove that very soon.

   Male Cheerleaders To
 Make Their Debut On The
  NFL Sidelines This Season
For the first time in his- tory, the NFL will have male cheerleaders on the sidelines.
The Los Angeles Rams have enlisted Quinton Peron and Napolean Jin- nies to be the first guys to dance and cheer along with its all-female cheerleading squad.
“I thought, ‘Why not me? Why can’t I do this?’ And called my friend and I asked her when auditions were for the Rams and she told me Sunday [March 11] and I showed up,” Peron said in an interview on “Good Morning America.”
“Still can’t believe I’m one of the first males in history to be a pro NFL cheerleader!” Jinnies tweeted after being selected.

position on the Rams cheer- leading team.
“They were unlike anything I’ve ever been to. I’m used to getting a call after or an email,” Jinnies said, referring to other auditions. “This one was about three weeks long and we had a bunch of re- hearsals in between and an ex- tensive interview process, but it was really humbling and amazing to be invited every time you came back.”
