Gun Charge Gets Convicted Felons 15 Years In Prison
Federal judges sentenced two Hillsborough County residents to 15 years in fed- eral prison. Both were charged with being in pos- session of firearms.
According to court docu- ments, in March 2015, a de- tective with the Hillsborough County Sher- iff’s Office was using social media to identify illegal firearms sales. The detec- tive observed a Facebook profile in the name of Adam Longoria selling a .22 caliber AR-15 style rifle for $300.
He also observed Lon- goria “throwing” gang hand signs and confirmed that Longoria had been previously documented by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office detectives as a Westside Bloods gang member.
The detective also discov- ered that Longoria was a convicted felon who was currently on federal super- vised release, after being re- leased from federal prison for cocaine trafficking.
On March 17, 2015, the detective, working in an un- dercover capacity, sent Longoria a private Face- book message inquiring about the AR-15. Longo- ria stated that he still had the rifle for sale and told
TIMOTHY DALE WASHINGTON, II
the deputy to meet him at a Walmart in Plant City.
Once the detective ar- rived at the location, Lon- goria advised, by phone, that his “wife” would sell the rifle at another location. The detective met with a woman, and paid the woman $300 for a Moss- berg International 715T (.22 caliber) semi-auto- matic rifle.
Longoria also agreed to forfeit any rights to several other weapons in his pos- session.
On Wednesday, District
Judge Susan C. Buck- lew handed down a 15-year sentence to Timothy Dale Washington, II, 33, of Tampa. He entered a guilty plea on September 12, 2016.
According to court docu-
ADAM LONGORIA
ments, on January 24, 2016, deputies with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputies lo- cated Washington at an apartment complex in Tampa, and attempted to arrest him on an outstand- ing arrest warrant.
As the deputies ap- proached Washington, he removed a pistol from his pants, dropped it, and fled, but was caught and taken into custody.
Washington’s prior felony convictions include violent offenses and serious drug offenses, officials said.
District Judge James D. Whittemore sen- tenced 30-year-old Adam Longoria, of Wimauma, on Tuesday. Longoria pleaded guilty on Septem- ber 28, 2016.
