commence in early 2025 and has the
support of Clare County Council and other
donors from the local business community.
Described as an Irish Visionary, Innovator,
and Peacemaker, Brendan O’ Regan
pioneered the first Duty Free in 1948, was
a founder of the Shannon industrial estate,
and major contributor to Ireland’s economic
development from the 1950s. He was
pivotal in opening Ireland to world trade
and international tourism. The new visitors
centre will present in detail the extraordinary
achievements of this remarkable patriot.

and Derek Barrett joined as CEO of the Michael Guinee

He is not a member of Ei staff, but is working from Ei
office in the short term.
Derek was previously owner/manager of Peach
Recruitment in Shannon.
