Who We Are
We take great pride in operating as a family funeral home.
Dominick J. Abbate
Dominick, a licensed funeral director in the State of New York, is a second generation director and native of Southampton. After graduating from Southampton High School, Dominick went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts at The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts where he studied Economics and Anthropology. While attending Holy Cross, Dominick spent his junior year abroad living in La Coruña, Spain, knowing the importance of fluency in Spanish given the changing demographics of our town and society at large. Shortly thereafter he began his career at a financial firm receiving his Series 7, Series 66, and New Jersey Life Insurance licenses. Despite these accomplishments, Dominick soon realized that a career in finance was not for him. He sought a profession that would allow him to make a positive impact on his community, but ultimately did not find that kind of satisfaction in his financial career. After working for several years in the financial industry, Dominick felt a calling to follow in his father’s footsteps and went to school to become a funeral director. He graduated from the renown American Academy McAllister Institute of
Funeral Service in 2014 in New York City, marking the beginning of his transition from financial planner to funeral director. Dominick began his residency at Yardley & Pino Funeral Home in Sag Harbor and East Hampton, afterwards transitioning to work at Ballard-Durand Funeral and Cremation Services in White Plains, NY. Here, Dominick gained valuable instruction and guidance from the owner, Matthew Fiorillo, who is among the top progressive leaders in the funeral industry. Dominick is excited to bring this plethora of new knowledge and experience back to Southampton to complement how we honor and celebrate the lives of neighbors and friends in our community. Dominick is also a professional musician, he was the former music director and organist at the Old Whalers’ Presbyterian Church in Sag Harbor, as well as organist and choir director at Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church in Bridgehampton. He is currently the music director and organist at the Basilica Parish of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary in Southampton. He currently resides in Southampton with his wife, Christine, a registered nurse at Stony Brook Hospital.
