Arranging the funeral
The funeral service is a way of saying goodbye to someone who has died. We are here to take you through the decisions you
need to make to ensure you can arrange the funeral you want for your loved one.
We will also take care of the practicalities, including sorting out the dates and times with whoever takes the service (whether
that’s a priest, minister, celebrant or someone else) and making arrangements with the crematorium or cemetery.
Following the wishes of the deceased
If the person who has died had a funeral plan, their instructions for the funeral will be recorded and you will
need to provide us with the policy number and details. Or they may have put their wishes in their will or talked to
someone about what they would like. If you don’t have any clear idea of what the person wanted, you will
need to choose between a burial or a cremation. The key decisions that need to be made for the funeral
are listed below.
We are here to help will all of the arrangements to assist you with:
■ Where the body should rest before the funeral
■ Time and place of the funeral
■ Type of service (religious or other) and who will conduct or contribute to it
■ Cost of the funeral
■ Whether to have owers or donate money to a chosen charity
■ Where to donate owers after the funeral
■ Sending out invitations
■ Placing a notice in the newspapers.
