How Pre-paid Funeral Plans Work
Pre-paid funeral plans provide total peace of mind by allowing you to pre select the service that you require, which can be tailored to suit your exact needs. There are generally three levels of cover catered for within these plans. They all include the services of the funeral director and their fees, including collection, care and preparation of the deceased, a hearse and a contribution toward 3rd party fees like crematorium fees, doctors’ fees, but more speci cally;
Standard Funeral Plan – A standard co n, arranging the funeral service with the crematorium/ cemetery, family support and guidance, funeral procession and visiting at the chapel of rest.
Intermediate Funeral Plan – As per the standard plan, but with a high quality co n, plus one following limousine.
Premium Funeral Plan – as per the standard plan, but with a superior quality co n, plus two following limousines and a oral co n spray.
Payment options for all of the plan types includes making a one-o payment in advance, or paying interest free instalments over up to 24 months or paying longer term over up to 360 months.
Paying in instalments can cost more if a longer than 24 months payment plan is chosen, this
is because administration fees or interest charges are added over longer terms, but for many operating on a tight budget, this does mean that setting up a prepaid funeral plan becomes a ordable. Plan prices range from anywhere between £1695 to £4,540, depending on how much provision you would like to make within your plan.
Prepaying for your funeral can be bene cial for those who someday may need to qualify for government support, such as for long-term nursing home care. The reason for this is that the expenditure for prepaid funeral expenses, doesn’t usually count against the person’s estate, when the government determines nancial eligibility for care and support funding.
