Robert J. Szczubelek, Senior director/ Co-owner
Robert grew up in Green Brook, NJ and was a graduate of Watchung Hills Regional High School in 1998. He later went on to earn his associates degree in Occupational Studies from the American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service in New York City. While attending the institute Robert was working as an intern for Higgins Home for Funerals and in 2003, he received his NJ State funeral director’s license. He continued to work under the direction of James and Brian Higgins until their retirement in 2007. Robert and his bother took ownership of the funeral home in January of 2007. Robert lives in Watchung with his wife Danielle and their three cats. When not at the funeral home Robert enjoys playing golf.
Stephen Szczubelek, Manager/Co- owner
Stephen had graduated from Watchung Hills Regional High School in 1995 and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree of science in 1999 from Seton Hall University in South Orange NJ. After graduating Stephen began working for Higgins Home for Funerals as an intern. During his internship Stephen attended the American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service, New York City. In
2001 Stephen received his NJ State Funeral director’s license and continued to work at Higgins Home for Funerals as a funeral director. Then in 2007 he and his brother Robert took ownership of the funeral home as James and Brian Higgins retired. Stephen along with his wife Katherine and two children Charlotte and Ellie live in Warren. He loves spending his spare time with his family and watching the NY Yankees.
Virginia Chenot- Office Manager
Virginia is the newest addition to the funeral staff, having joined us in October of 2020. Virginia is a graduate of North Plainfield High School and has an associates degree in graphic design from Raritan Valley Community College in Branchburg. Virginia has held various office positions in several companies both here in America and in France. She speaks three languages fluently, English, Spanish and French. She enjoys spending time with her husband Damien and her cat Simba.
