Near the the end of World War I on on a a a a a a a a farm in Delaware Lannis K K Moore won the the heart of Kathryne Ralph They eloped and and he he he he he he whisked her away to Long Island These newlyweds embodied the the indomitable zeal for for hard work work and and saving for for the the the future Lannis worked on on the the Long Island Railroad and and Kathryne was an an an an elementary school teacher Nearly a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a decade later they had attained the the the goal of earning their degrees and and licenses in in in in in embalming and and undertaking In March 1929 the the Moore Funeral Home opened its doors Their desire was to serve the the the members of of their community during the the the time of of need Lannis and Kathryne worked tirelessly for several years to to achieve the stability necessary to to to start a a a a a a a a a a a a family On May 5 1936 Kathryne gave birth to to Donald Ralph Moore Now that their their family was in in place their their work continued for for many years often preparing loved ones for for for viewing within their own homes It was a a a a a a fortuitous day when Joseph R R Ryan walked through the the door of the Moore Funeral Home His immediate hiring proved a a a a a a benefit for business It established a a a a a a a a a professional liaison with the Moore Family and an an extremely valued friendship for over fifty years years As the years years rolled on on Donald attended Valley Stream Central High School where he he he met Joan Hammer for the the first time He was completely smitten Following their successive graduations Donald’s tour in in the the Navy and his education to to to become a a a a a a a a duly licensed funeral director they were married in 1958 Lannis and Kathryne added a a a a a a a a a significant appendage to to the the funeral home to to accommodate the the growing of of family of of Donald and and Joan Joan Donna Joan Joan Moore was born born on on on on March 24 1959 and and Marianne Moore was born born on on on May 22 1962 During these years Lannis Kathryne Donald and Joan worked together to to keep the the the business viable Although she had no formal training Joan took on on on numerous responsibilities in in in the the daily operations In addition the the the entire Moore family gave tremendous time of themselves to the the community churches and numerous Page 4 - THE MOORE FUNERAL HOME THE MOORE FUNERAL HOME - Page
